I don't want to get carried away after 2 wins as I reckon we are still a bit off the real deal just yet. And yes I'm still unconvinced by Mr Agar.

However I don't think I've ever seen a Wakey squad with more depth.

I've assembled what looks like a typical first choice line up (opinions may differ) and a make shift team due to a hypothetical injury crisis.

Now on paper at least the first choice should be a match for most teams.

However also on paper the emergency 17 hardly looks terrible and could with the right attitude compete with a few lower table sides - certainly no reason it would be humiliated except by perhaps Leeds or Saints on a bad day. This is a very worst scenario team by the way.

Again all this is hypothetical because I'm fully aware that the game is played on grass not paper - and that the only team of note we've played so far (Wigan) put the cleaners through us. However untried both the above teams are it's still quite incredible the number of decent players we have managed to beg, borrow and steel.

That second team just looks awful. The back line looks weak, the pack apart from Annakin looks awful and the bench! It's good to have cover but if at some point all the first choice outside backs are injured it's doesn't bode well.

Six months since I'd have been happy with that team 2!

People like you make me laugh they really do.

Apart from being an insult to those young lads and fringe players wanting a chance it's also rubbish.

If you were to weaken Leeds by roughly 12 first choice players which is what I've done what do you think they would look like?

Marginally better that us, thats all.

This mythical SL squad where every position is covered by 3 internationals only exists in your's and a few others heads. Much vaunted as Leeds and Wigans youngsters are they are largely unproven - just like ours. Whats to say Jowitt or even lone star Briscoe couldn't make the step up instantly, plenty do - and often those you least expect - or are you suggesting the youngsters you bang on about so much are in fact crap - make your mind up.

MC, CB and RA have performed miracles in putting this squad together. We have the best pair of half backs we've had for ages (and we've yet to see Harry) a good hooker and good interchange hooker, some cracking props and an excellent back row. The backs aren't to shabby either.
The Bradford game came a couple of weeks too early for us as I believe we would have beaten them had we played them next week. Saints will be a good yardstick against which to measure ourselves. Throughout our time in SL Saints have been the 'top' team we nearly always seem to do well against.
Without getting too giddy, I can see us sneaking into the eight. A cup run would be a nice bonus, but I'd settle for making the eight.

Spot on post.Regarding the so called team 2,they will never in a month of sundays be on the field together in the near future.I think what Vasty was stating was that we have above decent cover for injuries and 2or3 fringe players who are developing well and waiting to take their chance WHEN it comes.

As the squads below illustrate, we have good depth but the weakness is in the three quarter line

Mathers/Jowitt
Fox/Briscoe
Collis/Keinhourst
Lynne/Ryan
Riley/Tautai
Sammut/Sykes
Godinet/Siejka
Anderson/Raleigh
McShane/Wildie
Scruton/Smith
Kirmond/Walshaw

I think you are missing the point. It's a second string team.

Disagree as the youngsters that have come through the ranks at Leeds over the last couple of years have far outweighed ours in terms of talent and it still appears they do to the current day. Leeds have several youngsters on loan at super league clubs, we're lucky if ours are good enough to be competitive in the championship. I have no problem with people being positive and I like the depth we have but I don't necessarily think the current depth we have equates to any kind of quality. Our first 17-19 is strong and should give any side a game but I don't think the young uns except Annakin have shown thy're capable of being competent super league players. Obviously, just my opinion, but I've seen nothing to suggest we have a production line of youngsters capable of progressing Trinity in the Super League as of yet...

Although, as a second string it isn't too shoddy when compared to the likes of teams around us. Just disagreeing with the Leeds comment. I'd have thought the likes of Wigan, Leeds, Saints, even Hull FC all have better second strings and youngsters than us and I fear it will only become more apparent if the U19's results are to show for it.

I agree with the comment that we played Bradford a month too early for the squad to have come together, but I would also add Salford to that. We can't control the fixture list, but if we can avoid a significant number of injuries, I see no reason why on the performance of the last two games that we shouldn't see them off at our place.
As we've seen from Cas (and occasionally us a few seasons ago), if you get a couple of early wins under the belt, you can get on a roll and winning becomes a habit.

I bang on about Agar signing random auzzies such as Ryan whilst Walshaw is shipped out to Dewsbury, that's all.

Leeds 2nd team would still be be better than ours, as would the majority's of other teams.

You wanted opinions on our squad depth, I gave you one, if you don't like it well fair enough then but I post what I think, not whatever pleases you or the other people who only want to see good comments about the club and the squad.

I've said it before and I'll say it again I believe no one could've done better than MC and KH, I'll hold my hands up and say has been brilliant, but plenty could do better than our current coaching staff.

How do you know how Matty Ryan is playing or even Walshaw for that matter?
