| 1 year is not much of a commitment. I wonder which side was not willing to go beyond a year?

| Hhhhmmmm, not really very good, how do you build a team around all the players when a pivotal player does a possible one year.
So if he wants to be away he holds the aces wakefield have to start again on a new partnership.
I am not against Ryan as I hoped we got a 2 - 3 yr deal. I think we should not build him up for others & look for a further quality half back, re - CH in his recent interview about further quality & building etc.

I would guess RH and his agent, which is a pity because it isn't much of a commitment is it, and will hardly endear him to the fans.
I really hoped for more from a Wakefield born, so called fan of the club!

| MC and CC made a very interesting comment about more signings too
They said they were waiting for leeds and Wigan to announce some signings and that they would be watching for player movement at both of these clubs
No idea who that could be or how many

| Doesnt seem to be much of a commitment which initially seems a bit disappointing.
However, maybe, as he hasnt played loads of games as yet in the halves, maybe we were also only looking for an extra year at this stage, and then if he continued to prove himself, then extend the contract further, and for a longer term, and if it didnt work out we can look at other options without having a player tied up to a long term deal
Regarding the Leeds and Wigan story, after Leeds bad year and a new coach coming in, I would expect them to have a clear out.
Not sure if hes contracted, and if so, how long for, but Anthony Mullally anyone?

| No complaints about the length of deal. Main thing is he's signed up. A year is a long time regarding all things Trinity.

| 1 year not long enough for some people, 3 years too long for others.
I have to agree with Eastern, probably the best fit for both parties, if we want to improve and strengthen the squad next year that most people want.
MC said earlier in the season that we could only sign 4 from 6 coming out of contract, as far as I'm aware, we've renewed more than 4.
There will be quite a few players coming off contract at the end of the next season.

| a lot can happen within the one year, he's taking as much as a gamble as the club is, if performs wonders then he becomes a wanted asset, if he fails to please it could work the other way and his career takes a backward step
I reckon next season we hit the ground running and get a great start, can't wait

| Most logical deal all round, Hampshire potentially has another year playing in the halves, if he does well his stock will have risen, Trinity get a talented young player for another year and may benefit from his presence for a full season and gives them more time to look for a replacement should he decide to move on.

| Me and my dad were both surprised at the length of the deal. Young player who has shown his quality towards the back end of this season. He will only get better. Disappointed to not see him commit for longer like Jacob and the like but I am glad we have resigned him overall. I do wonder who insisted on a solitary year. I'd be surprised if it was the club.

| I guess one side though could be that at the end of the 2019 season, some of our overseas players will be OOC, so it gives us options to look elsewhere too.
Also he hasnt played a significant amount of his career in the halves, so it gives us a get out should he not develop as we all wish him to.

| One year has a logic to it. It's clear that his agent (and possibly Ryan himself) wanted more money but we couldn't give it. Ryan may well have wanted to sign for longer. As TheMightyTrin has said, at the end of next year there will be a few more contract negotiations and there may be more "wriggle room" to pay more for a longer contract. From that point of view it does suit both sides. It would have been nice to have a 1 year "with options for further years" but it may have been a step too far for one side or the other.
Whatever the reasons I'm really pleased and I think Ryan will get better and I look forward to our half back partnership being one of the best in Superleague.
