| Wire fan here.
Travelling with the wife to Wakefield for the first time on Sunday and was hoping someone could suggest a pub near the ground that does decent food.
Thanks in advance

The Ruddy Duck about 1/2 mile from the ground (towards Wakefield), decent pint & food ok, enjoy.

| Ruddy duck I hear is poor for food from numerous friends.
I eat out regularly, best options are in the area :-
1. After match > kashmiri Aroma (J41). The best indian restaraunt in wakefield/leeds areas. Better than akbars etc in leeds. The buffet is on Sunday evening and it's always busy and the food is too draw along with the service. Me and the guys go regular. I recommend anyone else also here.
2. qubana/grill pit> wakefield centre near bullring. Burgers and pure meat fest if you like and foods good. Grill out service can be a little on the slow side but some top draw food options.
3. Silkwood farm > pub meals/carvery - decent pub, large and the food is pretty decent too. They have oversized massive desserts. Chocolate Clair the size of a rugby ball and numerous cakes like daim bar, Oreo etc etc.
4. There's a hidden gem in rothwell > about 20 mins drive to wakey ground that serves up good food called three horseshoes. Do a good mixed grill etc etc.

If your coming up the M1 from Watford, come of at junction 39(Denby Dale) head into Wakefield to 1st roundabout 2/300 yds The Red Kite is on the left on the corner, turn left, first right, you won't be disappointed.

Sorry Trojan but I can't agree with you on Kashmiri being the best Indian in the Leeds/Wakefield area. Although only small Tingley Balti House is better by far for food and service etc.

| Best Indian Buffet is Naz's going down Wakefield Road into Doncaster.
The Wheatsheaf at Whitwood does a Sunday carvery and you can have a bar meal after the match..
Unfortunately Wakefield do not have a Donatello Pizzeria mores the pity.

| Ruddy Duck ticks the box for near the ground and nice location next to canal for outside dining if weathers nice. Food is just pub food and is not really comparable to places like Quabana (mentioned above). Prices are at RD are buy one get one free so you need to be paired up to get value for money.

My thoughts exactly Wollo.
If they are after Michellin Star food, they are probably in the wrong City.
The Holmfield in Thornes Park is another decent pub.
Decent Pint, good food and pretty reasonable prices and only 10 minutes from the ground.

| Might try that tingley balti house.
Kashmiri always been good for us. Always packed out. The buffet is good but the menu meals are really good. I prefer to Akbar chain in Leeds anyway.
How about fasenda in Leeds centre near Hilton. Now that is somewhere I'll be going. Take the wife there if your feeling adventurous .
There's plenty of choice but if your after quick pub meals etc there's a few decent sounding places on here.

It's only small and can get busy but the food is fantastic and so is the service. If you go on a Wednesday or Sunday it's a full 4 course meal plus a glass of wine for £12.95 I think and the portions/quality are just the same as full price.

Akbars on Eastgate used to be top draw but it's gone downhill last 5/6 years or so, stopped going. The Manchester one is still pretty good and the last time I went to the Bradford one it was still very good too
