| Finishing 8th is a fantastic achievement for our squad of players. Anyone who wasn`t tinged with the red white and blue looked at us at the start of season and most said 12th some said 11th.
Hats off to all concerned. What games like today do show is how important our close season signings are going to have to be.

| If at start of season somebody said 8th and a cup semi you'd have snatched their hand off. Best I thought was a more competitive season than last and avoiding the MPG by doing better in middle 8s.

| Whilst not meaning to be negative as I think you have done very well this year, if Salford hadn't broken the salary cap in previous seasons you would be in the middle 8s fighting for a place in SL next year.
As far as on-field performances go, you have been the 9th best team. Which is a dramatic improvement on being the 12th best team.

I knew someone would bring this up now. You could also say if this game was to be in the top 8, would we have played exactly the same, with the same team? The Semi would have come secondary at that point. Would we had a debutant on, as well as young Crowther and rested the Captain, BJB, Anderson and sent the likes of Howarth, Yates and Walker out on loan.

Indeed. I guess everything is hypothetical.
I'd much rather play Wakefield at home that Salford though, so I'm pleased it's worked out like that.
Hopefully, we'll get you the week before Wembley this time!

It's just we got that a few years ago when Bradford screwed up their finances.
I'll be very happy to play Cas the week before Wembley as well.

If Salford hadn't had a points deduction and we weren't guaranteed top 8 we would have at least played with a pack today.

| I guess some teams this season have progressed, and some haven't.
Your obvious displeasure at Cas's regression has been duly noted
Try not to be too bitter about it though....lol

| It's good to see us in the super 8 section of the forum this year. Much prefer it to the middle 8's

| We got there by default.
Dont know how anyone can say that. Salford broke the rules and got docked the points. Other teams have done it in the past and had points docked including the precious pie eaters.
Anyone with a blank chequebook can put out a squad capale of beating anyone. Which given the players Salford have signed should have been scrapping for t4he top 4 let alone 8.
Whos to say the good doctor hasnt done it again

Had we not got a game next weekend, you may have been playing a different Wakefield team today.
But, your right, it's a huge turnaround on last season and everyone involved at Trinity deserves a share of the credit.
Next season will be more difficult, with Leeds, Salford and probably Huddersfield all expected to improve but, we'll take what we have and hope for some luck next week !

| We're a point off 6th, and that only happened in the last game of the regular season ffsake
we must have chucked at least 3+ games away this season, I don't see 9th like I don't see a glass half empty, I see as near to 6th as makes no difference.
you gotta expect a few myopic cas dime bars coming here to bitch about 1 point, because its all they have, they're not going to win anything and they've not made any improvement over last season, their only comfort is finishing 1 poxy point above wakey......which, quite frankly is laughable when you consider how disappointing their own season has been.
well, it makes me laugh anyway

| I'll raise a glass to Dr Koukash.
Thanks for being useless at cheating a rubbish system.
Still an outstanding effort by us, after what happened the season before.

The same could be said of a few games what we have thrown away this year but for every close one you lose against the grain you win a close one against the grain.
I would of been bitterly disappointed finishing the regular season in 6th with Powell picking from a full squad and rotating players regularly, but unfortunately it hasn't panned out that way with him playing lads out of position week after week many of them dead on their feet from not being rested with many fringe lads having lots of game time this year.
I no every team have injuries but this year has been truly horrendous, so as for your statement of cas fans not been happy because of no improvement over last year, is frankly quite laughable.
Good luck next week by the way..It would be good to see wakey at Wembley on TV in colour instead of all those black and white clips!
