On balance, this seems a good signing.

Positives: A known quantity, not too old, plenty of NRL and SL experience.

Negatives: I don't think we can call his first stint at Trinity a total success. He failed to keep an ageing Finn out and was always picked second to Miller as far as I could tell. I'd call his stint mediocre and I'd say anyone stating otherwise has rose-tinted specs on. He went home for 'personal' reasons, what's changed you have to wonder.

That said he's now older and wiser and this is, without doubt, his last chance to be the main man at either an NRL or SL club.

For a team with few options seeking a player in a position that is currently highly diluted it's hard to think of a better available player.

Time will tell he did kick 4 forty twenties in that season Finn kicked none

Be interesting to know how many he kicked in his time with us. Regardless, it is something that as a team we dont seem to kick too many

This will depend in some ways, whether George Williams wants to stay at Canberra long term.
Sam is well regarded and I'm sure getting paid well in the second string.
His team are heading for a Grand Final and he's in a country with little issue around Covid so is more confident that the season will actually go ahead.
I'd love him to come but I can't see it.

Whilst he is/may be getting well paid there have been no reserve grade games in Australia this year so all he is doing is training with the odd game first grade game here and there. I'm sure he'd rather be playing every week, so that may just swing it in our favour.

I'm guessing the afore-mentioned "visa issue" isn't an issue after all ??

The government isn't going to deny someone into the country on a 6 figure salary. That's a good amount of tax.
