| Good letter from Phil Townsend in WE today supporting improvements in the city. Also the onus for the bulk of the provision of funding for Newmarket falls on Yorkcourt, developer. Was asking Wakefield Council to ensure that any progress made in developing Newmarket results in funding being made available for the stadium for the City of Wakefield.

| Good letter. But I am so ed off about the whole situation. Nothing appears to be happening on the Wakefield front whilst Cas are geting all the plaudits. I am not having a go at anybody just desperate bout the whole situation. I reckon I will be dead and buried by the time we have a new or revamped stadium. Sad.

| I'm probably going to get shot down here but why is it up to Wakefield council to make sure that YC invest any funds they have into your new ground, Please don't get me wrong I want to see this come off for your club but I don't get why Wakefield council are the villains in all of this.
I dare say I have missed something in the stadium saga but surely it is YC who are not playing by the rules and not the council, Also I don't get some of the bitterness that has been doing the rounds about us getting outline planning approved, things like the council are bending over backwards to get it all approved when they didn't for us, I don't remember it happening that way for you, I could be wrong and I hold my hand up if I am but the council did seem to give you a fair bit of help getting Newmarket through the planning stages (didn't they fund your application).
Anyway good luck with it all but you seem to be blaming the wrong people to me.

| A bit of public support and pressure from the council on Yorkcourt wouldn't go amiss but it doesn't seem forthcoming. And given Phil has seen the need to write the letter then it makes it sound that that its not forthcoming behind closed doors either. Without a legal requirement i doubt Yorkcourt are going to shift their position easily otherwise they already would have done so. And they have already shown their moral stance. The council backing seems conspicuous by its absence and it is that which is annoying people. Maybe if we played in black and orange...

| For what it's worth I don't think we will get a new stadium nor do I think BV will get anything other than a cosmetic cover up,I really hope I am wrong but with the absence of anything positive and set in stone we've had it. I do wish cas well in their stadium dream but its just so sad that a club that has been there since the beginning cannot advance because of unscrupulous people.

I'll stand being corrected but I believe it was the WMDCs planning and/or legal department who drew up the S106 agreement which had more holes in it than Sonny Corleone.
They bear a huge responsibility for the allowing YCP to wriggle out of their legal obligations.

You say that but all party's are involved in s106 and all partys must make sure it water tight either way it is a real mess and needs sorting but like the other poster says why are people so bitter towards out projects were not asking much off council apart from pass the plans.

A 106 agreement is a community levy, as such the beneficiaries have to be the council who, in our case, were due to hand the stadium to the Trust. It can be undertaken by agreement or, again in our case, as a unilateral undertaking which is drawn up by the developer, in agreement with the local authority - slight difference but quite similar.
The only other party involved is the developers bank.
Whilst I have nothing against the Cas stadium - good luck to them - it does stick in the throat the lengths to which WMDC have gone to get this through and, it is our belief that if we had the same 'will' at NM we would be on our way by now!
The council say they want all their clubs to be successful - well I say 'prove it'
We are considering our position in conjunction with the club at this time!

Yes that's the thing for me. Personally I don't mind one way or the other about Cas' stadium project and I think that applies to most Wakefield fans but what I'm sure of is, if that project ended up the same as ours, Box would be making a huge sound and dance about it and I reckon Castleford fans would expect him to so as well. Unlike what he said about ours, after it came out that Yorkcourt where trying to pull a fast one. Which was basically it's nothing to do with him or WMDC, which imo is pretty unbelieveable.

It's amazing though that both clubs have seemingly sorted the kind of deals that get stadia built all over the Country pretty much hassle free, obviously ours has run into problems and your just starting the journey. Really both clubs should have been in new stadia by 2017, problem sorted and no real expense to WMDC. Why can't things be that simple.

| A lot of people seem to believe that BOX is a 100% biased Cas fan. Really, a biased person on a Council? How unusual is that?
Can it be true?. KARMA will catch up with him.
The good news is that we now have the best owners, coach, and team that we have ever had in Super League.
Be happy, don't worry. Everything will work out for best.

Quote: "Wakefield Trinity, meanwhile, have admitted that they would prefer to redevelop Belle Vue than pursue their new stadium plan. If they can come to an agreement with the Bank of Ireland to buy back the ground – they seem to have secured more land from the council for parking – and will be able to work with developers to build a new home on one of the few remaining Northern Union sacred sites.
Bradford’s relegation and Hull KR’s new developments leaves just two grounds not fit for Super League. And they are the two that I enjoy visiting for their nostalgic lure. Wheldon Road will not be there for long but it looks like Belle Vue may stick around for another generation.'"

It's an opinion. There us some truth in it, but whether it can be made to happen....
Both options remain on the table!

| Nothing will happen unless you can get the developer to pay and they have no intention of doing so be it for redevelopment or the new stadium. I would guess if they were to honour their commitments they would have done so by now.
