| For those Trinity fans that don't have the dvd or seen it on You Tube or whatever, if you want to see your team in action the WT/Richard Harris classic This Sporting Life is screened on Talking Pictures channel on Saturday night at 9.15pm. SKY Channel 328. See the former heroes Harold Poynton, Don Vines. Rocky Turner et al in action. Not quite Super League but a piece of Trinity history

| Will try & watch that . I don't know if any one on here remembers the female lead ,Rachel Roberts, sister of Nancy who used to be with Hughie Green on Double your money ? I always thought Rachel was much more alluring than many of her contemporary so called blond bombshells & s*x kittens ,Liz Fraser excepted.

| My 94 year old aunt was an extra in the crowd for the recording. I always enjoy watching it when it's on tv

| I was in the crowd early before the Wigan cup tie. Filming was taking place and I always remember our star wingman Jan Prinsloo, as a film extra, he couldn’t play in the cup game due to injury. There is a bit of terrible film editing after Frank scores that try. He is taking the applause in front of the old South Stand, but when actual film footage of Fox kicking the goal, there is no Stand, just the mass crowd on the south terracing. Just thought I’d mention it, too much time on my hands.

| Some of the crowd scenes were part of the cup tie between Trin and Wigan at Belle Vue
For the only time a single line of chairs were put inside the fence behind the dead ball line at the Donny road end.
My dad got hold of 1 ticket for those seats which I used
One of the action shots was Fred Smith scoring if you look really really closely there’s a young lad wearing a sheep skin jacket dancing about like a lunatic .............Me!!!! What wonderful memories

Wonderful actress Rachel Roberts. I think she either won, or was nominated for, a bafta for the film. Wonderful in Saturday Night & Sunday Morning too. Sadly died well before her time. Didn't know she was sister to Nancy though.

| I’ve watched it twice now. Think it’s fair to warn anyone that hasn’t seen it that apart from the RL stuff and the odd shots of old Wakefield it is a deeply depressing film. Sorry but it is and to be fair that was the makers intention.

| yes great timing to show it as well,
I would of preferred the showing of the film Up n under a comedy film about a bet between two blokes at their own amateur pub clubs, I've seen the film yonks ago and have watched it live at Wakefield theatre club westgate by the Hull theatre trucking club, enjoyed them both thoroughly

I agree it is. The only reason I've watched it in the past is obviously because of the connection with Trinity, but it doesn't do a lot for RL!

My dad had it on video when I was growing up. He often recounts stories of drinking in the Fox & Grapes when Richard Harris would be in between filming days. I've seen it a few times and it's a very gritty, dark, bleak film. Although that sort of thing is right up my street, so I really like it. The connection to Wakefield and Trinity is an added bonus.

| The book on which TSL was based upon was written by a Lupset lad called David Storey who attended QEGS and played RL for Leeds.
