| There is a certaint irony in that a few weeks after the RFL declared a pre tax profit clubs are starting to go bust. Hope Workington, like York and presumably like Bradford, will get the help they need.

rumours that York are being sold to someone that has gone bust a quite few times and might not get the green light for the sale

| I heard a few weeks ago that players were asked to take a 15% pay cut maybe the problems were bigger than first anticipated, I hope they get it sorted as York seemingly have done.

| Should there be some kind of statement from the RFL here.
There are only somewhere between 35 and 40 professional clubs and if 3 of them are going into admin or worse, that's a hefty chunk of clubs
that compete in the top 3 divisions of our sport.
I know that the clubs run as individual businesses but, surely something needs to be done to help the "member" clubs.
Bradford will be difficult, purely because of the size of the club but you would hope that York and Workington wouldn't be anything like the same scale
and that help could be given quickly to save them, even if it meant reducing the share out of of Sky cash for next season ?

| If true then maybe the rfl should rethink letting any leagues spend full cap.

| I'd rather see York or Workington financially assisted than propping up a doomed to fail Toronto entering the league.

Toronto have received no funding from the RFL, so it's not an either/or situation.

That may be the case but there is a huge cost implication to the clubs in terms of travel/admin/Refereing expences etc etc but above all lack of revenue from a club that will simply provide no away support at all - as I said on the VT none of the current problems are Toronto's fault but with the game so shaky at present is now really the time.

| Toronto are paying all the other clubs and officials travel/accommodation costs, and covering there own costs into Europe. all this was explained by Perez in his interview on Premier, was impressed by him and the deal he is offering the RFL, they are paying nothing in exchange for increasing the salary cap.

Sorry I don't believe a word of it - but it's one I'll be happy to be proved wrong on

Still does not help when there is no away support, if they get in super league along with Toulouse that will be three teams with no away fans, quarter of the league, God help us

| For me it's not about money, teams like Toronto and Toulouse have had no effect on what is happening at clubs like Workington and York. What it is though is the perceived support that the 'new' clubs get from the RFL in terms of setting up administration, adapting the rules to suit, media exposure etc. They need to show that this level of back up is available to ALL clubs in times of need and not just a chosen few. What better chance to do this and take a leading role than now when a couple of smaller traditional clubs are struggling? It will be interesting to see what transpires.

| I haven't seen that York, Bradford or Workington have gone to the RFL with a deal like that one offered by Toronto; if they did, I'm sure they'd get a similar reception.
I get that Vasty is cynical, but I can't see that the owner would have gone on telly and announced that his club would be paying all the travel and expenses for visiting clubs, if he actually wasn't; it would take about 60 seconds for that kind of lie to be exposed, if that.

You're possibly taking me a bit literal here.
I'm sure he has the best of intentions but RL has a habit of confounding even the best laid plans an I can see the budget not balancing very quickly especially if they don't do well. In which case like many previous RL pioneers hell exit stage left quicker than Scott Moore gets an invite to Redhall!
Just don't get the logic - here is virtually know history of RL in Canada - a country that apart from Ice Hockey is totally enslaved to the gloosy American sports that are readilly on offer - where is the demand. It failed in London which by comparrison looks truly furtile territory.
We shall see I suppose.
