Can you remember Keithy? You're not much older than me, the only way that I know of him was when my mum used to frequent the merry city.

Keithy used to frequent the Trinity Bar of the "Old" Mitre up until the pub refurb mid-70's. Not sure how old he was due to the wig! Presume he's dead now?

1964 at art school used to go in Midland pub Keithy ran it if this is the same Keithy were talking about.

Same one, Madge France was the landlady.

The pub was forever called "The Mid" even when it changed name to The Roundabout.

Was an old guy called Crad a manger there at some time?

Always knew it as "The Mid" but never knew why.
How long ago was it "The Midland" ?

We were 16 when we first went in there, Madge used to serves us four or five pints all evening, as we left she always said with a twinkle in her eye "we don't serve underage, don't come back again" we didn't until the week after and went in and the same scenario ensued. If I remember correctly she played this little game as coppers used to go in for after hours there.

Think I can answer my own question, I think Crad was the landlord of the White swan in Normy mid 70's.

Madge had the gift of the gab, she was a bus conductress for the west riding for long enough, and with her size she was big enough to sort out any bother as well.

We've gone a fair bit O/T here, can anyone create a thread along the lines of Old Wakefield (or some such title) and move these memories over? Might be interesting.

I believe he died a few years ago,he also worked in Friar Tucks,grew up on Darnley estate I think.
