I wonder how we are all voting tomorrow?
I'm voting Antony Calvert. TRB has covered on other threads and is mentioned in Antony's report regarding the new stadium, so I won't go over that in detail but essentially I believe himself, MC and the Wildcats feel a sense of real optimism from him and indeed Andrea, after the major disappointment of our Labour counterparts.
I know Antony and his whole family personally and have spoken to him throughout his campaign. I asked him for his word that he would pursue and actively deliver a new stadium. He gave me that! (I know what responses some will say regarding politicians and that's fine I understand, people's frustrations). For what it's worth, I wanted to state I back Antony to deliver. The reality is that apart from Antony being a sports fan and advocate of the stadium it actually makes great political sense for him to deliver this!
His website has some stadium content on, and I have attached the link. If he is successful, he won't be half way down his first celebraterly drink before I'm in his ear!!!!!
Everybody has their own reason to vote one way or another so whoever you vote for, good luck

| Unfortunately, regardless of what choice words my now deceased grandfather might say due to Labour's passiveness to the WTW cause, I cannot bring myself to vote for a Conservative.

| As previously supported labour I have now woken up.My area has suffered under labour and the city is also suffering. Labour have got far too comfortable and slack. Andrea Jenkyns is in my constituency she has tried so hard. Mr Balls does not seem bothered. It's time for a change I'm afraid things cannot be any worse as they are now.
Think long and hard. The pit days have gone 30 year ago let's look to the future now.

| I fear for us getting a ground if we have a labour secretary of state. They will side with Box all day long.

Or a Labour s.o.s. Will be in a much better position to put pressure on a labour council. One thing for sure, Box will resist against anything a tory would say.
Personally i wouldn't vote conservative if they were the only party standing.

| Its looking like who ever we vote for won't make any difference. The government will get in.

| Please don't use the ground excuse to cover your embarrassment that you vote Conservative, I think you are wrong but at least stand by your beliefs. I would say that they have been in power for the last five years and I am yet to see any sign that they have any interest in us getting a ground if they had why did chubby call it in.

| I know that labour have done nothing for Wakefield and our ground problems and from a local point of view seem to be inept at everything but self promotion; however if I voted for the Torys I would find it hard to live with myself as they decimate the NHS, education and anything else needed by us little people.
No my vote will be aimed at stopping these people from another 5 years.

| For me it's very simple, without the NHS i and many on here would not be alive to vote.
I will vote for the party that created it and will continue to safeguard it.

| Some people seem to be confusing the council and the government. Voting Tory today won't make one bit of difference to the council (except they may well have even less money under a Tory govt). Vote a Labour today then kick Box and co out when they're up for re election.

| The one certain thing is that however people vote today, we need to give Box the proverbial "bloody nose", whether the Tories can do this I don't know.
At a national level, the Tories are going to slash and burn and there will be cut backs like we have never seen and they are not brave enough to say where they will be cutting !
However at local level, Box is unprepared to move, unless it's for it for his own benefit.
Mr Balls says Labour are behind the ground but, WMDC say that it is not a matter for them.
The Conservatives say they will help with the ground but, thousands will suffer with the cuts that will be made.
In principle, Labour will look after the needy and the Tories look after their own and themselves but, the Labour council has let Wakefield Trinity down badly
As the op says choices, choices.

Obvioulsy Morley is also part of the same constituency. Yesterday Leeds City College announced that due to the massive funding cuts imposed by the tories that the only further education provision in Morley is to close. Two other centres also suffered the same fate yesterday and other community centres are to follow. The sector has been shrinking rapidly ever since they got into power and the conservative manifesto has the lowest spend on education of all the parties leading to further horrendus cuts. Throw in the shambles they are making of the nhs thanks to back door privatisation and further unsustainable cuts to local government meaning the rest of the already decimated childrens centres, libraries, etc means you are right it is time for change. Its time to get rid of the tories whilst there is still something to save.

I would add players, coaches, the previous regimes running the club and the apathy among the Wakefield public to that as well?

| Scarlett, I always have the courage to state what I feel mate. I am voting Antony who is a Tory. I was born and raised in a council house, under performing school and have watched politics over the years. I don't vote labour because my Grandfather did, or any other family members.
Out of the councillors in Wakefield, the ones who impressed me the most were Conservative. Over the years however, Tories have got my back up and some of their MPs I wouldn't pay in washers.
The thing that grates me about Labour is their 'run with the hares, run with the hounds ethos'. Who are they? Who do they represent? I will no doubt vote a mixture of Labour and Tory and maybe even UKIP, over the next so many years. One thing for certain, across all the parties I think we all agree on, is that a little more integrity and less of passing the buck mentality. That is for them all.
I may get this vote wrong! Who knows..
Again, good luck whoever you vote!!
