| I remember reading on here that the Dolls are "hired" by the club, so to speak, to perform on match day etc. Was that company run by someone also employed by the club at the same time and were any other "dance troupes" ever considered for hire, based on costs etc.
Don't know why I've thought if this now, but may as well ask.

| Yes I read that too. I would like to know the facts. Paying anything for cheerleaders is not good business fo me, when we are a club on a tight budget

Well I for one think there is a value to having a decent dance group at BV - and they are decent.
I don't have a problem with the 'family and friends' issue as so many do have - provided there is a clarity of purpose and value, but I can accept that it is difficult from the outside the decipher between them. Many businesses are run along these lines, but not many are scrutinised to the degree a sports club is!

| Take that back right now or I will punch you ruddy hard you blighter. Fact : the Dolls are fantastic, they are the best value for money we have on match days and that includes the players. They are worth every penny, absolute priority to keep them dancing on match days. Players come and go, they have no loyalty and move to another club at the drop of a hot. The Dolls are for ever. We have had to watch a load of overpaid so called pro players, drop the ball, miss tackles, make pathetic attempts to defend, play rugby like the thickest bunch of thick RL players ever and pay for the pleasure. The Dolls never ever let us down.

Cant disagree too much with what you are saying but, within a sports club, the "customers" are also the people with most to lose.
In most businesses, if the customer is not happy with the "company" or the "product" they would simply go elsewhere, whereas most sporting organisations have a captive market and they know that their "customers" will keep coming back, week after week, therefore well paid jobs for family and friends are a totally different issue and where these positions are given, surely the people involved need to show that they are giving more that a.n.other would give, both in terms of work undertaken of effort for the cause.
Of course, as with other situations, it doesn't matter when things are going well but, when the brown stuff starts flying about, it is imperative that these "family and friends" can stand up under severe scrutiny.
Having said all that, the dolls do/ did seem to give excellent value and appear to be well organised and excellent value in terms of a return on cost.
Personally, I always enjoyed the kids playing at HT but we have to entertain the masses in order to attract more and more people through the turnstiles.

| What about the publicity they bring us, they appear to represent the club at many occasions and even on Non Rugby related TV but what does that count it's not as though we need the exposure.

| IIRC, the figure quoted was around 400 quid per game. I know it seems quite a bit for a cash-strapped club, but if you assume the girls actually get paid something to perform, plus insurance costs, etc., what's left over, if anything, will hardly be enough to line that retirement nest.
In fact, by carrying the name of the club and presenting a positive image of it on other engagements beyond match days, they probably offer pretty good value.
Personally, I don't think you can beat a good brass band at half time, but I accept that younger members of the Wakefield Trinity family may have different views on the matter.

We have had lots of publicity and exposure lately, all for the wrong reasons granted, so i guess some positive stuff through the dolls is welcome.
You seem hell bent on defending the old regime and all its traits but are quick to challenge MC on is ideas for moving forward.
A bit odd.

| I believe the old regime were definitely not perfect but they improved the ground and gave the supporters more positively than we have had for many years. I would reiterate that the money he put in he does not want it back so I guess he has put a lot more in than you give him credit for.
My criticism of MC is not personal but I do feel he emphasised the negatives too much when dealing with the less committed of supporters who we need to buy season tickets to move forward.

| Remember years and years ago watching a series of programmes where Gerry Robinson went around failing buisnesses to offer advice and find ways how to try to turn their fortunes around.......was way before all the other programmes of that type that have followed since....
The biggest thing he focussed on in nearly every episode was NEPOTISM.....and the way it destroyed businesses....nearly every time he tackled the issue it didn't go down well.....but in the end made a huge difference....
All through my working life, and especially with that in mind from watching those programmes, I've never once seen a family member who got a job through family, do better than someone who was well qualified and applied for the job and got it through merit......it's easy to become blinkered to poor decisions if it's one of your family or friends who has made that decision.....
Despite that though, the Dolls have to be a must to stay.....like them or not, they are of big interest to quite a number of people and i'd say with the interest of young girls wanting to join etc (like my own daughter did once) they are a big asset to the club in respect of getting more fans through the gates etc....
