| Lee Briers throws a right hook but because he is a little turd he gets away with it. Just a penalty.Poore retaliates to Farrel straight red retaliated, Briers didn't retaliate to anything just did it he just as a word with Mr Child when they are both meeting up for dinner.

| Also remember wardle punching ablett in challenge cup and geting a straight red, all you ask is for the refs to be consistent .

| It does seem that the severity of the penalty is directly proportional the quality of the punch.

| We were very much second best today and Warrington dominated large parts of the game. You generally have to beat what is in front of you, which usually consists of 13 v 13 players irrespective of ref's decisions, and even if a player is sent from the field for 10 mins or the rest of the game, it is no guarantee that you will turn a simple numerical player advantage in to anything more than just that by the end of the game.
That said, that was probably one of the most clear cut red card calls I have seen this season. Briers lost his rag at being tackled legally but clearly by his shirt collar, the red mist descended & he deliberately strikes out at Ablett's head when he has his back turned. It just demonstrates that Child is not up to controlling a game at this level & he doesn't get why, at the very, very least, he should have got a card out of his pocket! It was a poor game from Leeds, but Child was simply shocking today!

You have to sympathise with Briers a little, at least he was not hitting him where he would do any damage
On a serious note, am I the only one who thought he caught him high and finished with pulling the shirt collar which made it seem less serious, I vaguely remember a while back Leeds fans furious with a Wigan player doing the same sort of tackle and not being penalised, different day different attitude.

| He caught him round the face first, hence Briers annoyance.
Child lost control of the game at that point and for a long period afterwards; during one set on their line, Leeds would have been penalised for virtually every tackle in the set - messing around, pushing, off the mark etc.
Wire were awesome today - when Michael Monaghan was introduced, he ripped them to bits.

| You could hear on comms that when Child and his touch judges spoke, child took he lead by saying something that 'we cant categorically say he connected with his head, we didnt see it'....or words to that effect. That seemed to be agreed with and there was no red card. Now...if you're a conspiracist, you could say that Child thought very quickly, knowing he could be heard, to make sure he didnt have to send Briers off.

| Never have like Child as a referee, not up to the job. Wakefield have been on the wrong end of some of his very dubious decisions.

Aye, the Magic game at Cardiff, when he gave 42 penalties in 1 game.
I think Child is consistent, consistently poop.

| He's scared of the players and the physicality of a tough game either sends him whistle-happy, or stuns him into silence - every club has suffered from his ineptitude at some point over the last few seasons.

| Pathetic from Child and it in no way encourages players not to retaliate. Ablett to his credit just laughed at the porky little , however, if he would have retaliated it would have been 10 mins each. Does anyone on here think that a wakey player could take a punch at someone who has their back to them and not get binned or sent off?

I'm not sure that was done by choice.
If I were Mr Poore, I'd be tempted to contact Red Hall with the following message

| To have red-carded that punch would have brought into disrepute every decent bit of biff I've ever seen.
Also, you have to take into account that Briers isn't a fighter. He clearly reacted to something Ablett did ( think at some point Ablett caught him on his mouth) that does mitigate how he responded.
Who cares about consistency? If Child helped it make it more difficult for the Rhinos to get to Old Trafford, I'm all for it.
