Hitting Bailey. Should be a commendation not a red card

| We should say let him off since you only told us about the new rules for Boxing day the friday before it.

Not sure we can get away with that - I don't think the punching people thing is a new rule!
I do agree with the poster above though - punching a thug like Bailey should be worthy of a commendation not a punishment!

| Surely the sending off was sufficient. I've seen similar incidents only get a yellow.

To quote Brian McDermott "I thought a sending-off was heavy-handed but you can’t go around punching blokes."
Well Mr McDermott I think you'll find your own number 9, McShane, did the exact same thing but yet was only yellow carded and will not face disciplinary. Anybody at the game will recall McShane throwing uppercuts into Foxy for what appeared unprovoked.
So I dont see how Bailey grabbing hold of Poorey out of nowhere and getting cracked warrants a red card yet Paul McShane throwing uppercuts in the middle of a tackle doesn't.
Nevermind, we all know the referee didnt handle many things correctly. To push this any further and banning Poore will be ridiculous but not a surprise, he should be on the list for a Knighthood imo. Hypocritical words from Brian McDermott.

Would this be the same Brian McDermott who ,when playing for Bradford against Leeds, laid out three Leeds players in quick succession ?

| I would expect at least one match ban, we would expect similar if a Leeds player had done it to one of ours. At the end of the day the friendlies will serve as matches for any ban anyway. Also You may find Brian was not himself on Boxing day

Just out of curiousity, were you at the match on boxing day?
I personally disagree with you because I think it is an accepted view that the incident did not warrant a red card, it was bad refereeing and adding insult to injury by implementing a ban would be ridiculous, but like I said before not a surprise.
Its been mulled over a lot on the forum but Bailey grabbed Poore blah blah Bailey started it and should have been off. If it was a Wakey player who acted like Bailey did then they deserved the reaction Poore got from Bailey.
In all fairness what do you expect when your opposite number grabs you out of the line after some fiery hits and fair bit of afters too?
I'm getting bored of talking over the facts of the whole situation tbh but watching it all unfold was a highlight of my life, honestly.
