many thanks to those that have been keeping us informed of the developments regarding newmarket.
assuming all goes our way (and rightly so), and our wonderful city and club get the green light for what we require and deserve, how soon before work commences on the development?
what first, and when?
i cannot imagine that with profits to be had and tennants to get paying rent that the builders will want to waste time. that said i know very little about how big developments like this are planned and costed so wonder if an informed member of the board could give a bit of background.

I believe Rodney Walker is aiming for a mid 2014 completion, which is probably a little on the optimistic side. |

There is a fully funded model in place, but that doesn't mean that the dosh is sitting in an account somewhere earning interest. The funds will come from the council, from the developer, from various funding bodies - and some of these will be inter-dependant. The developers bit is, in theory, linked to the signing of tennancy agreements for the units proposed, but the intention is to force the hand of the devloper and, where necessary, arrange for bridge funding to help speed up the process.
All this will take place alongside the detailed planning application, but again there are a few loose ends here such as whether and how much bodies such as Wakefield College become involved - the more the merrier - and the bigger and better.
But, let's got ahead of ourselves, there is still a big hurdle to be crossed and we'll know by Tuesday if the above is waste of time - or not! |
