I know it's nothing to do with RL, but can anyone recommend anywhere (preferably NOT a working mens club), that will accommodate an 18th birthday party for my eldest daughter, and a few family and friends (70 max), and doesn't charge a fortune for the privelege ( that's Cats bar ruled out then !!).
I have tried Sandal sports and social club, and Sandal rugby (union) club so far, and have been told that there are very few venues that now do 18th birthday parties

What's wrong with Cats Bar, been to a few good parties there, great food and puts money in the Club?

i had my sons party (although he was only 5) at cats bar, and i thought it was quite reasonable.
they did the catering, bar and room
we also had 3 dolls and daddy cool for the entertainment (bonus!! )

I attended a wedding do in the hospitality suite earlier this year. It was a very good and well run event and i'd recommend hiring our the place to anybody.

A family friend booked a function room at Cedar Court for his 80th birthday (admittedly, it was a large group). Don't know how much it cost to hire, but I think he was happy enough with what he got.

Try the Wakefield Sports club (where Wakefield RU used to play)
They were good and it is a big room with bars but can also be shut into sections if you need smaller.

Last I heard Cats bar were charging £250 just for the room + food + d.j. unless anyone can tell me different ??

But I have just e-mailed the club to see what they are offering anyway.

Last I heard, Grey Horse in Kirkgate had free room hire

Got a reply back from Hannah Turner (Communication and Events Manager at Belle Vue), she is quoting £150 room hire for Cats bar (£130 optional... whatever that means ???), with an option of £4.95 per head for a buffet.
I must admit it is cheaper than I was expecting (£250), but wondered how this compares to other venues ??
