| Lots of positives from todays game. Our ball control was excellent, our discipline was great. We stuck to the game plan, our fitness was good. Our defence was top class, we tackled round the legs, we were brave against a massive Hull pack.
Our kicking game was poor in the first half, we need Wood on the pitch for longer. Aiton is great but he is not offering any go forward from dummy half, he is just moving sideways, Wood put us on the front foot. I would go with Wood and Ellis next week with Aiton at 13 or coming on from the bench.
Great to see Walshaw get on for so long, he did not miss a tackle, his positioning was good and he looked after the ball. With time he will gain confidence and take it in a bit harder.
Could not have asked for more from the lads, they gave everything and just came short.
Good game in poor conditions, credit to both teams.

| Agreed apart from discipline and latter part of first half our ball control was terrible. That said I can see eome massive positives, best back line we've had for years and some speed and quality in the pack even if we do lack a bit of size. Come the drier weather with firmer grounds and I can see us scoring a few points. Think if we had attacked a little wider in the first half rather than the one up, up the middle we could have caused a few problems however I can understand why the lads did play one up in those conditions. Hull threw an awful lot at us on our own line and we held firm. Penalty goal and a touchline conversion beat us today and we very nearly snatched it at the end with the lads proving their fitness and never say die attitude with a rousing finish. Think a few more questions will be asked of us next weekend though but I think this squad won't roll over quite as easily as we have done in the past against Hudds, none of the lads with the voodoo around them are still around so hopefully the hudds bogey side will have been put to bed!

| Agree with UptonCat with the addition that our half backs are not firing yet. Both seem content to pass it up and down the line without wanting to take the defence on. I'd give Wood a start next week in place of either John or Smith.

Smith is a provider. Not sure exactly how you expect Smith and John to gel if you drop one of them? They are playing well enough not to be dropped whilst Wood is doing a good job where he is. Start messing about after game five and you may as well call it a day so far as creating a team and a style of play goes.
If we were being stuffed or not playing any RL I'd be worried, but we are it's just not quite the real deal just yet - it will come.
That said if there were one team I'd play Wood at HB it would be against Hudds - if it's wet. The only time we beat them is when we keep it very tight and don't take risks and thus frustrate them - but it has to be wet

He may be a provider but I don't feel he has provided yet. Perhaps Smith and John are not the best starting combination and a different combination from Wood, Smith and John may be better.
Just an opinion, we've all got 'em. In the end the only one that matters is RA's and he knows a bit more about the game than me.

I thought Smith got caught in possession a lot today, you can of course equally blame his fellow team mates for not backing him up though, several times he was tackled stood still looking over his shoulder, looking for a runner to offload to and no-one was making a run.

| Think Smith and John are getting a bit of a raw deal, Smith does a hell of a lot of organising and lets be honest today wasn't really a day where yould truly judge a halfbacks performance, Johns short kicking game is very good and I honestly believe we will see this pair blossom especially in drier weather

| Don't let the fact that for 70mins Hull FC totally dominated you.
McKinnon makes a school boy error to gift you 4 points.
Ganson sniffs "I can be controversial" again and helps your lot out.
But hey, don't let facts get in the way.
PS. Don't be fooled by what crap comes out Agar's gob after a defeat.....you'll soon start to see through him.

| Voiceofreason.....mmm ironic........... you scored off a kick and another when a defender slipped on his arris. Penalty count massively in FC favour me thinks, camped on our line for large periods and couldnt gert over the line. Hull FC fans in visions of grandeur yet again, you will be in the same bracket as us cas salford and bradford, anywhere from 9th to 12th, kr to pinch 8th spot for me, best team we've played so far but wire showed how far away theyare from being a top side.

Do you have the most inappropriate name on RLFANS??? Voice of reason my backside.
And if you think Ganson helped us out you should probably get the DVD of the game and watch it back again.

He is an exceptional strike player Al, granted he has his defensive frailties.
