| Not critisising Glover at all as our team looks very good but for the life of me I cannot see the point of us signing the Huddersfield trio. It was part of the Smurph deal but this is important salary cap space.
2nd row - mariano, morro , lautiti , southern we also have the reserve lads and washbrook could play there. Kirmond going to srtuggle.
Rayleigh - 2nd row turned prop - ok we do need a prop but cant see his injury record standing up
Wood - Judging by our latest signings is Wood a back up? But yet our young lads should be first in line.
Not saying they are bad players but I just cant help but think we have just done huddersfield a favour by helping them free some space. Do we actually need this trio? Our 2nd row is the best for many many years where is kermit going to fit in. I personally don't think we need them. MAybe rayleigh at a push as we are short on props.

| Are you ever going to stop whining? Glover and Agar are building a brilliant squad for next year and all your doing is moaning! You have to wait and see what they can produce before you start criticising! God!!

| Wakefield supporters will be entertained with some fast flowing creative play, something we have not witnessed for a while. The signings that have been made and others still yet to come will strengthen the Wakefield cause. All season ticket holders will certainly get good value for money come 2012 just wait and see.

| Yes we need them as it's a squad game now not just 1-17. Thought you might have figured that out by now. If you look at leeds they had quite a bad season with injuries but have got by at times as some of their Junior/reserves have come in and done a job thus giving first teamers a break or recovery from injuries.

You have a point - we have a surplus of back row forwards; however the way to view this I think, is that for once we have the luxury of picking form players and not 'who have we got to play in the 2nd row-on form or not!'
Fierce competition is good and will make the players perform!

i’m not sure that it’s a question of whining or whether it’s simply a valid point (in the wider context) that will have to be addressed in one way or another. we now have what feels like a massive squad with the promise of more signings to come. allied to that we have a lot of developing talent in the form of our younger players and you’ve got to wonder how richard agar can keep such a large squad happy and motivated when only 17 can play each week.
i think we may see some departures out on loan to the championship, but perhaps some permanent ones too. this being for two reasons, keeping players fresh and motivated and cost.
some of the flak that agar got when he was at hull was about him not blooding young players, i have a worry that his squad as it is at present gives him lots of chance to put aussies/bought in players in the team when home grown ones are sitting in the stands. not saying that this will happen, but for me it's a big risk.

| Yes we do need them.
Unless you subscribe to the CT/Fully school of thought (that the modern RL game is only played with 17 players) you must see the need for all 3 signings.
They provide much needed cover for the squad. In fact you said as much in your opening post, then disregarded them as they don't "fit in the starting 17". The game is about much more than 17 players. Each one can cover a pivotal area of our game. While I wouldn't be thrilled to have Wood as my starting 6/7/9 I know there will come a time in the season when I will be happy to have him, even if it's just as emergency relief for a player whose played 70+ mins/covering an injury.
Without players like this in your squad you depend on kids, we did that last year (& it appears Cas are going that way next) & I think we all know the potential effects. These signings may not set the world alight, but they're steady & experienced players. If you can't see the need for such signings your short sighted/wet.
It's great to bring our own kids through but to throw 10 in a squad & expect them to swim (not sink) all year is RL suicide. I may have not been Agar's biggest fan, but I am happy with the squad that is being put together & I am open to being an Agar convert.

| Not a moan, but for about the first time I can remember I am in agreement with NGB4C.
Kirmond for me would be behind
Southern
Mariano
Johnson
Lauititi
Morrison
and so will do well to get much game time in my opinion.
Wood would be behind
John
Smith
Wildie
possibly ahead of Moore in terms of experience
at halfback
and behind
Ellis
Davey
Wildie
at hooker
Raleigh if he can stay fit is the most likely of the 3 to get some game time in my opinion but I guess they will all start with a clean sheet in the eyes of the coach and therefore whoever shows up best in training/pre-season will get the games.
I think we are building a good squad for next season but would have preferred to see Kirmond and Wood money being spent on an extra prop as I still feel that is where we are going to struggle.

Ahead of Moore ? Did you not go to the Wakey v Giants game at the back end of last season, Moore was MOM by a country mile, he kicked them to death, He was up against Wood that day and was playing at a different level than Wood, And then we sign him... ???

What he said.
Right now, I'm guessing we still have players on the books who won't be come the start of the season and that some of the younger lads who may not yet be the finished article will go out on loan or dual reg. I'd also not be surprised if we have one or two more incoming, including the prop that we so obviously need.
I think that by the time the whole process is complete, the squad will make more sense.

| What we need a squad of 8 2nd rowers? I think we signed those 3 before we saw the squad shaping. Here's a question for those who dont agree. Would you have signed players in different positions rather than those guys?

Yes, I was just saying that in terms of games played I would think Wood has played more games at SL level than Moore. I may be wrong as I don't have any idea how many Wood has played but I do know Moore has only played a few.
I only said maybe behind in terms of experience, not skill or anything else. I actually quite like Moore and think he has that streak that you need, was just going on his experience at this level.
Quite frankly, as I said I wouldn't see eitherof them getting much game time if we sign Tim Smith as well as Isaac John.
