| Just looking at pictures of salford and saints new grounds they are both coming along nicely and very quickly. I know NM has been put on the back burner lately but it will be the most important thing ever for our club and looking at the plans i can't wait for it to start. Our time will come we will get our new stadium

| I wouldn’t get your hopes up about the new ground too much. In the absence of SL rugby in the foreseeable future I would doubt York Court will finance such a larger unneeded stadium. We’ll probably end up with a small stadium good enough for the lower leagues. This is of course assuming it gets past PI.

If we settled for a smaller stadium it would show lack of ambition I think it will be 12 k minimum

| Yorkcourt will build what was planned, that is what is agreed with the council and the application.
Why would it matter to them what league we are playing in? It's not like they would have a land lord status over the stadium.
A 12,000 capacity stadium is a must for moving back into SL and back up the ladder.
What we need to do next year is hit the 5,000 mark as many times as possible to show the depth of feeling for the game in our area. I have no doubt that can be done via savvy marketing and membership, all of which AG has shown he has a nose for IMO.
Moving out of BV at the end of the season wouldn't bother me, because by the time the season came around the PI would be done with and we can have fun on the "roadshow" (Dewsbury/Fev) until we move back home to Wakefield and Newmarket!
Yorkcourt have already said numerous times that NM is just as viable for the Championship as SL.
They're interested in industrial development, which is dependent on providing a stadium- why should it matter what league we're in?
Bottom line:
IMO if we are in the Championship that's even more reason to press on with developing a state of the art stadium and training facility.

I’m afraid that’s a very optimistic view of the events. 5K crowds in the Championship are a complete pipe dream We struggled to get 1500 last time, that’s was when the dream of promotion was still alive.
Regarding the ground, the cost between building a 6K stadium and a 12K stadium would be enough that they don’t have to justify building for Championship rugby. Forget visions of 2015, it quite clear where the game is going that we are not welcome in the top flight.

| Would there be any major legal/planning issues, if prior to starting the actual build that Yorcourt, with the appropiate permissions couldn't build smaller?
Is it written in stone that another sporting club, be it rugby/ football/ whatever, couldn't be the main lessee rather than Trinity?

I still dont see why York Court would stop building the planned stadium because we were in the championship? We need the planned stadium and Mr York Court has kept his promises so far to deliver a stadium that the club want, I dont see the point of a smaller stadium??

| It would also demonstrate a permanent lack of ambition.

The stadium build is not affected by the division we will play in, the only danger in us being in the Championship is in the possibility of the WMDC pulling the £2M facility, which was for SL clubs in the District, and offering the whole £4M to Cas.
However, SRW & Colin Mackie have both said that the stadium build would not be scuppered by the Council pulling that £2M.

We all know this so lets hope the RFL realise and give us the chance to fulfil our potential in Super League next year.

The point is that a smaller stadium will be cheaper. How do we know that eviction from SL won't be a game changer? The prospects of getting back are so slim, why would york court risk the extra investment thats simply not needed? The reality is that Championship rugby would be a disaster for any planning for our future.

We could moving from now but that the RFL would rather have a 30 year failure in london to continue or that joke of a club thats just over the welsh border. Shame our board won't have to bottle to sue the RFL!

Yes the Championship is a disaster for future planning, didnt seem to bother the Board and fans of Wakefield when the club voted to accept the current franchise system that it was a disaster for clubs stuck in the championship. It didnt seem to bother anyone involved with Wakey after gaining promotion in 98 to then vote to stop P+R either, there will be little sympathy for the plight of Wakefield im afraid

I don't know if that was the circumstances at the time (98 onwards), but in 2008 I argued strongly against the franchise system and the unfairness of it and a few other Wakey fans on here did. I don’t think the feeling amongst most Wakey fans was of support for the system, at least most I talk to was never in favour of it. It's just a case of a lot of us been more vocal in our opposition now that we are directly affected.
