| Ideal for handling skills, but not good for impact injuries.
It may be a good thing on the whole as RL wont be competing for players as much with the round ball game.

my main concern , we dont have the facilities to water the grounds for 48 hours pre match .
its all to do with the till & pocket IMHO

| Personally I think it’s a good thing. It can offer youngsters who play football in the winter something to do in the summer, you never know if they get a taste for it they may decide they prefer playing RL over football, potentially increasing the player pool.
The lighter hours should also make it easier to hold training sessions, rather than running about in the dark with car headlights used as illumination.
The rock hard pitches of the summer is an issue (although it seems to rain quite often during July and August), but that’s where facilities such as the one at Newmarket come into the fore. I imagine the amateur pitch will have the facilities to water the pitches during dry periods.

| at present my little un plays rugby league and football so is busy all weekend and gets to rest in summer...there will now be an overlap at the beginning and end of both seasons and he will be playing all yesr round..this is something that charlie bray said wasn't acceptable when he refused his transfer from under 12 to his own age group under 11's citing "burnout!"

| In my opinion this is a great move for the future of the game. Really pleased with this, our kids will have better conditions in which to learn new skills and also competition from football and union is removed to a certain extent.
Was already looking forward to my son starting up in the not too distant and this only enhances the excitement.
Trudging around on heavy fields and cancelled games are never going to be the best environment for kids to pick up skills required for what is generally warm weather sport.

twas a winter sport for many a year fella thats why they dive to score trys and why AFC players U S A rock hard pitches dressed to the nines in pampers and knacker sacks just jog over the score zone .
many more injuries to come imho but im sure time will tell, got to now gonna book my "SUMMER HOLS" 2 more weeks out of the season for the mutts

Many many injuries are caused because of the wet heavy pitches especially the lower body breaks.
From personal experience I played in the back to back season where it changed from Winter sport to summer and the level between the 2 seasons improved massively in relation to the speed of the game. The main issue with the hard pitches was more to do with getting the skin torn off your elbows and knees rather than major impact injuries.

| a few scuffs on hard ground may be acceptable but its the drop with the head on the hard ground that will be have to be watched if there's anything else to be concerned with is the heat on the day
the game will be quicker and will simulate what they will be playing at a later age if they decide to take it up
I would still like to see the water logged pitch

Untill is knees/shoulders are busted by he time he's 16.
I can see all the good parts of summer rugby but the price to be paid will be broken bones.

| How do the Queenslanders cope with it? I'm sure they will play on worse pitches.

Coaches should be able to adapt training to ensure this is not the case, my knees were shot by the age of 18 and I at that stage had only played 2 years of summer rugby.
I think the stats from the pro game show that the injuries have significantly reduced since the change to Summer. I understand the concerns but for me the pros far outweigh the cons.
