| List players who became big names with big reputations and long careers that in your opinion they simply didn't seem to deserve. Don't make it a list of really poor players who you just don't like. Justify if you wish but you don't have too but be prepared to be shot down or fight your corner.
I'll kick off
Steve McNamara - Average when he was at his best, made a career off the back of the good teams he played in. Everything IMO that's wrong with British players and in our game is encapsulated in the longevity of this particular player.

| Danny McGuire- For me he is like BJ a player who can back up and that is it. The only reason he has scored the amount of trys he has is because he has played for Leeds when they have had the best team. If he was playing for us he would be regarded as an average player at best.
Ade Gardener- I have always thought he is poor in defence, iffy under the high ball and has only scored so many trys because he has played outside because he has played outside Lyon and Gidley who are 2 of the best centres to play in the Super League era.

| Brent Todd, came over with a big reputation, in the late 80's but was absolutely average.
Compared with John Glancy (all the way from Sheffield) Todd was poor.

| Francis Cummins. Got a ridiculous amount of acclaim for effectively staying out of the way.

He had a kicking game as well. Don't you remember his sideways kick to James Evens to score a try in the million pound game. The fact he beat seven bells out of Ryan McGoldrick also makes him a great player IMO

| I rated Monty. One of those players you need in a team, good leader and awesome in defence!

Belting Ryan McGoldrick surely exonerates Betham from appearing on this list.

I have to agree it is and I'm no great Monty fan, but if the point of him at Wakey was his tackling then I do kinda get him I'm afraid so for me he doesn't count.

| Sean Rudder - played a few games for us at Castleford and left - waste of a contract. He was backup to Andrew Johns at Newcastle Knights.

I heard he wasn't very good at steering the team round the field

| Up to date - Ryan Bailey; a consistently average squad player who receives a disproportionate amount of attention due to his 5hithouse tactics.

| Here are mine in no order.
Wellens
Sinfield
Both mainly because they are talked up to be world class which they clearly are not and never could be.
Daryl Goulding (International shirt for putting the ball over the line in a good team)
Robbie Paul
Phil Bailey
Bobbie Goulding
