| hi fellow fans. i’ve been reading the board for a while, and thought it was time i posted. i don’t get to all our games due to distance (live in tamworth) but i’ve been to the last two games and really enjoyed them. i’ve made a few observations (probably a bit late for debate but there you go).
there seemed to be lots of inane positivity doing the rounds on the terraces about the meeting next month. if glover knows we’re in sl next year then he’d better say so, because he’s making a rod for his own back as that’s what people seem to be thinking. he’ll go from hero to zero pretty quick if as we’re finally building some temp stands (that will infuriate the rfl as they'll see it as roots being put down). also heard that sky are dropping rl and espn want 20 teams. not in this lifetime. on the plus side, would he be bothering if he thought the rfl were not impressed?
as for the game, we were out muscled by a far bigger and stronger side. no real complaint on the effort, but when kevin henderson gets a starting slot and there isn’t a scrum half on the field then you get a view of our depth. kids got smashed by bigger men.
getting realistic – with sam obst (who is an okay half back - nothing flash) we’d have been 12-18 points up in the first quarter. i think we need the masses to be reminded that we’re threadbare and lucky to be alive in many respects. i thought we did well to bring our opponents into the game in the first 20 when with composure and a scrum half we’d have been out of sight.
i was tremendously impressed with our discipline in regards to the violence that les cats imposed on us. sadly they were not punished, so we were not rewarded and they got worse and worse. shocking really.
the lad wildie is a brave sod, but too little at the moment.
it was open season down our right hand side in the first half. in fact it was almost comical.
i don’t think we were out enthused, i just though we were physically dominated and beaten by a better side.
the crowd was never 4k plus. i’d have said 2300-2800 tops.
i was offered free tickets outside the ground by a random bloke. i declined, but this kind of thing needs stamping on (like the widespread abuse of unison tickets too). as does free tickets to friends and family of club employees. we need a culture of togetherness, trinity won't be strong and successful without ringing tills and clanking turnstyles.
one point is how impressed i always am with the friendlyness of trinity staff. the girls in the shop were very helpful, and one of them was quite cute too.

I'd like you to please qualify how the Unison ticket scheme is abused - I see no justification for that remark for what is IMO very fair reciprocal agreement between the Club and Unison.

| They're widely exchanged. Lots of people attend the game who have pay no subs to Unison.

I have known and heard of several people doing this.

So how is that abuse. You have to be a Unison member to get them, you still pay for the ticket at the lower rate whilst the rest is part of the sponsorship deal. The club certainly doesn't lose out no matter who eventually uses the ticket. The tickets belongs to the Unison member who purchased it, what they chose to do with them is totally up to the. No abuse IMO.
My wife is a Unison member, but hates RL. So if she gives me her ticket is that wrong?

And the problem is?
If the ticket was bought via the ticket office then passed on to someone else would that matter. These tickets are not freebies, they are a special promotional/sponsors deal available to Unison member who can do with them what they wish.

Technically it would be classed as ticket touting which is illegal.

| i never accept free or reduced price tickets for wakefield (or for any other team) unless they’re through the ticket office. i think the game needs the revenue, and anything we can do to give cold hard cash in return for entertainment goes straight on the bottom line.
that’s just the way i roll - together we’re stronger and all that.
like i said i wish i’d not mentioned it. i put my thoughts down about the game, squad, glover and it’s turned into a debate about tickets. not really what i expected.

Lol, with Vasty he'd have only picked you up on another point!
One of the issues I feel more than most is the size argument and my considerable bitterness (that I don't often mention on public forums ) is that we have 3 Kear rejects - Leaeno, Elima and Winterstein who were all useful giant units with bags and bags of potential.
Hendo is a god but he could smash into defences for 15 years without a rest and they still wouldn't show signs of fatigue.

| Sky aren't dropping RL anytime soon and there's no way even if ESPN get involved (which I feel they may do) that they'd want 20 teams in the league. It makes no sense, which makes it sillier when people believe this crap!

I would hardly call Elima a reject. We wanted to keep him but he wanted to go back to France and as per usual they offered him more money. I never have rated Winterstein and I still don't. As for Leeano, he did ok for us because he was something different and we wanted to keep him but by all accounts he asked for a stupid amount of money.
So out of the 3 you mentioned, only Winterstein is a reject and rightly so IMO.
