| Posters have been crying out for a half decent scrum half with an idea of how to direct the team and a mean prop since last seasons losses. Supposing we do have the money now, What are we waiting for ? Is it lack of suitable players , or is it players dont want to come ? or has JK earmarked the money for another full back and winger ?

| Maybe the scrum half we are talking about could be Matty Wildie.

| I guess it's a combination of the players we all want not being available, and the difficulty of convincing any who are available to come to us, given that we are currently strong favourites for the chop. In the unlikely event that we get a license, it might get easier to sign people but until then, I would imagine we're stuck with loan deals and fringe players.

| i guess until you know either way regarding the division you will be opperating in next year then i would guess you will not make any perminent signings, so it will be loanes until then. i find it very dificult to imagine an RL player would be willing to leave his club (unless on loan) to join wakey until your SL future is resolved. even more s for a player coming from Oz/NZ - why move families etc leave their clubs for maybe 6 months tops!!

Just goes to show how much influence Richard Wright has with his smooth talking tongue then when he got Youngquest and the rest to sign for you this season.

Maybe the fact that they would be only coming over for 6 months would be a bonus, as it means they would not have to uproot their family. It may be benificial for them if they are not playing first grade in the NRL to come over here for 6 months to show what they can do in the hope of earning an NRL contract and a starting berth next season. I seem to remember it working very well for Michael Dobson in 2006.

how naive.....
Cas (yes future unclear - but id guess pretty safe to be fair) have managed to assemble a very competitive squad for this season, therefore, players who agreed to sign (im sure with get out clauses in their contratc in the event Cas do not retain their licence) will be surroudned by a good side and a capable platform to showpiece themselves to possible suiters if cas failed to retain their license. on the other hand, put yourself in the shoes (or the boots) of a prospective signee of wakey. he is currently on the fringe of a SL or NRL side, maybe a future there and he is being asked to sign for a club that is a kin to a patchwork quilt. you have had to throw together a patched upside in order to compete due to your struggles. what i am tryign to say is the player(s) may give us the chance of playign safe and stay where they are to join a side who may be the whipping boys and there is a possibility (yes i know people will say try harder to impress) that they will equaly look poor by other coaches as a result fo a poor wakefield side.
this is the logic i based my previous comment. surely even the hardent of hardent Wakey fans can see the logic there. IF wakey got their license i am sure they would find it much easier to sign quality players. Wakeys best bet for now is loanees and desperados who need a change fo club or a last chance saloon.

I agree completely, largely because you just retyped what I already posted.

| Again this is why i blame the RFL opening there mouths about someone leaving super league. But as disscussed on another thread Mr Glover is waiting for forms to approve him signing overseas players. So what I gather soon as forms come MR HIckey will be our player.

| We need to look for english quick-fixes first. If not by the time any aussies get here we'll be so far adrift it will be a lost cause. Wigan and Huddersfield are the best bet as they have large squads. The Wigan lads have been mention on another thread but from Huddersfield Danny Kirmond, Kyle Wood and Andy Raleigh are all not getting much game time at present and a loan deal would probably suit all parties. And they have the bit of extra experience we need.

| I don't think we need 2nd rowers i think that is currently our strongest posistion and i do not think Kyle Wood is any better than what we already have. It is a prop or 2 that we are desperatly short of.

And you think I'm naive, bottom line squire is no new ground underway for the start of 2012 no licence, unless your case is special in which case you are very naive, its been well documented on here about our financial problems and that is the only reason imo that Cas have recruited better than we have, not because your prospcts at the time were better than ours, its because we simply did not have the money to go out and bring in the players what would have improved our team like your signings have, and as for whipping boys lets wait while the end of the season, I know its a strange feeling for your fans to have something to smile about on the field it might just end up in tears for you again so I would hold back a touch with the patronising luvvy.

To be honest, the starting point is that we are already a lost cause. We might be able to change that but it is not about losing something we have. We are in a building phase. I'd rather wait for good appointments rather than quick fixes. I think we've already done that with the players we have brought in.
If you added say Sammutt and Morley (just as examples) we'd be a much more competetive team. If you added some more lower level players we would have better strenth in depth but not really be any more competetive.
I'd still like to see another dominent prop added, and then a scrum half......then a world class stand off......and centre....well you know.

if you can identify where that is a pre-requisit for this round of applications, preferebly from the RFL then i will treat your comment with respect otherwise i believe, and as admitted by RW in this weeks Meet the Directors night - he said dispite the apparant assumption what you said was the case the RFL has said it is not. what is true is there needs to be definative evidence that a stadium is underway.
where di i say our receuitments was better than yours due to our prospects?
and as for whipping boys, your comment is noted however, i will reserve my position as i believe it is fair to say you look like no. 1 candidates for that tag, even a depleted salford side made easy work of you at home!

| When I first read the heading of this topic, I thought we were going to get a blue joke....
Oh, and if you've got any props spare, we're a tad light for tomorrow's game.
Much obliged.
