OK let's have some fun.

Let's suspend our disbelief and say that Ted rather than wearing a black hat is only wearing a light grey one. So the story goes....

A few years back after the Thornes fiasco Ted saw the future was bleak. He saw the credit crunch and the image rights issue coming and he reasoned that if we didn't find a plan B for the ground pronto we would go bust in 18 month. So what he did was to take the clubs only real asset out of the equation for safe keeping. Knowing that should plan B fail we go into administration the ground would be safe in his hands and would be given to the new club with a little to him for his time. I know some of you are frothing at the mouth already but bare with me.

What our Arthur Daley protector didn't bargain for was his own personal financial demise. Which is the reason I suspect the wheels have come off and it's not going as smoothly as he hoped. I could plump out this theory but I reckon you all get the gist.

Now I hear you say Vasty has finally lost it - well I never had it so your wrong.

You sse there is one thing or should I say person who's part in all this has been nagging at me.

Step forward Sir Rodney Walker. Anyone who has had dealings with Rod as I like to call him will know one thing. He is a cool and calculating business man, in fact I'd go further, he is plain ruthless! So why would a man of his calibre stump up 100k to save the club. This is a man with a major shareholding in the club I believe who has the knowledge and the apparatus to know exactly what's happening. I find it impossible to believe he was hoodwinked into paying that money 2 month before the company fell. Rod is not a paternalistic kind of guy, he simply wouldn't splash out 100k of his own based on sentiment - come on!!!! He wasn't to know the IR would demand the next batch of cash immediately and take us to court. However he would have assessed the situation and at least thought it possible nay likely with our recent history. With that knowledge it's a risk I would never expect him to take... unless.

So why did he and why isn't he jumping up and down right now. If you like a conspiracy theory chew on that one and wonder who owns what icon_wink.gif

NOTE: I really am out of the loop, in fact I now believe I was never in it which I'm glad about. So the above is just an idea based on guessing and does not involve any insider info - but I thought it worth a mention.

Don't think we'll get that until we get rid of them. Hopefully soon.

Well Vasty my take on yours is;
Sir Rod was definately hoodwinked but not by the club, but by the decision to call in the planning to a PI. His statements after are testament to that. He obviously thought with his position and standing within the political arena that his money was guarenteed to return when the full planning was granted with the payment from the developers.

I know but as the theories go on here it's fun and almost plausible. I agree but the likes of TRB and Feline (think how let down they must feel) have been dealing with the club on a daily basis for years and don't get the truth or at least not straight away so what chance us. eusa_wall.gif

Maybe, but I doubt it. He would have been confident but he wouldn't have taken the risk even if he perceived it as slight - not with his own cash anyway. icon_cool.gif

I do feel sorry for them and for the likes of those in WISCA who have defended Ted and the Club every step of the way. I said when the 'give a grand scheme' was first announced that the truth must be really bad now I can only imagine how bad the real truth is.

Why would he deserve a statue over say Neil Fox or David Topliss?

I don't know enough about it, but your post is my suspicion, as I put on the other thread. I have never heard anyone complain that 2.8million was an undervalue, and I have never heard anyone complain that someone has bought Belle Vue, providing much needed capital, and is allowing us to play in it until we get a new ground. He should have been open about it though, because separate companies would have still kept the creditors away, even with the same directors.

Over the years, he has seemingly employed people based on kin rather than skill, and the club has seemed amateurish at times, and perhaps there has been some ineptness at times too, but I don't go with the theory that he has somehow milked the club for his own ends.

The club will be a better place when he has gone, because we will probably have someone with more dosh to help build the club, but he has kept the plates spinning for the last eleven years, and that must have been a feat in itself at times.

I don't think that the £2.8m would be too far away from a realistic value. The rule of thumb for propoerty development is that the sale value of the completed development should be around 1/3 land, 1/3 development cost, 1/3 profit.

If there are around 100 houses with an average value of £85k to £90k (IMO realistic) then £2.8m for the land is there or therabouts.
