| Got this from a very reliable source outsdide the maypole in Ossett, the RL have a paper on the table for discussion to facilitate several mergers and move to a ten team SL for 2012. The changes take in to account emerging teams, stadium issues and expantion issues with only 5 teams retaining their currect status, those being Saints, Wigan, Warrington, Leeds and Catalan. the proposed mergers are as follows;
Wakey and Cas ground tbc
the 2 Hull teams ground KC
Widnes and Leigh home ground alternate fixtures
Bradford and Hudds ground galpharm
Quins and Crusaders Alternate fixtures
Shorter season of 20 games, top eight in straight knockout to a grand final at Wembley. Half time entertainment by winner of x factor.
Well im all for it, bring it on!

| Well we now know that the stadium will carry the name of "Wakefield" so tbh I couldn't imagine any team playing out of there not being called Wakefield.
As long as we get our new stadium our future is secure.

| I think it is significant that the conversation was outside the Maypole!

| It will be like the mergers of old, ie, not really mergers. One Hull team playing out of Hull at the KC Stadium is Hull FC. Hull KR would just carry on in the old ground rather than watch a Hull team at KC.
It's a format up for discussion, but interesting.

makes sense to me too, Im not with the hardliners that suggest Hull brings nothing to the table, they have some minor achievements historically and deserve oner more chance to prove themselves. Think the Leigh Widnes one works too bringing together 2 vocal groups with good facilities added to the fact that either group of fans wont get snobbish when visiting the other.

Hull's achievements have been more than ours in the last thirty years, and they get good crowds in good surroundings. Admittedly, you get beaten up on the way back to the car, but it is a solid rugby league area.
It would be interesting to hear the Widnes and Leigh perspective. I suspect Leigh would be more in favour, as Widnes have more chance of getting in on merit.
Couldn't see the Quins and Crusaders working. The only way Crusaders would work is by beefing up the Welsh angle. Merging with a struggling English outfit would be a disaster.

Ten teams playing against each other home and away, and it's a twenty game season. I guess maths was never your strong point.

| You missed out the super mergers of wigan and saints (to play at the DW of course, why build a small stadium when you can have a large one) and warrington and widnes, to alternate fixtures between their current grounds.
This would bring SL down to 9 teams, and would create an opportunity for the new franchise in dublin

You have to play yourselves twice obviously, this is still Rugby League so there has to be some insanity in there.
