Just been looking at Wildcats pictures on google and got to thinking who was the fastest ever Trinity player?
Paul Sampson was a junior sprint start but was he quicker than Andy Frew in studs? Any olden day speedsters (who may only have played a handful of games) most of us never knew about?

| Paul Sampson modern era yes.
In the 60's we had of course Berwyn Jones the Welsh flyer who was part of the world record holding 4x100 GB team that beat the Yanks before turning pro. There was also a couple of Powderhall sprinters that trailed with us believe one was Eddie McDonagh. Remember him being fast as ...... but money still goes on Berwyn although Andy Wilson's famous try against Leeds with the CUT well that day he got some speed from somewhere.

| Andy Mason?
Although that tactic of kicking through straight from the scrum in our own 20 wasn't a particular success.

Yep, all you could see was a dust ball hammering across the pitch, superb effort.

I think I can remember that Stuart Fielden at Odsal was chasing Sampson 70 metres and actually tackled Sampson as he planted the ball over the tryline. In the return game during a similar try I think Scott Naylor kept up with him all the way to the line but Sampson scored and a huge punch up ensued behind the sticks lol.
I always thought BJ was deceptively fast in 2004, when he made a break it was a try.

yeah i was in the middle of that punch up just remember an old women steward trying to break it up.I think sampson lost that half a yard of pace when he had the ball, mind you i remember michael wainwright somehow getting away from darren albert to score a try with his shorts round his ankles
