| Just above what I was willing to go to (not to say it isn't worth a lot more!)
Anyone want a signed Mark Field shirt? Go on, you know you want to....

The programme is worth sod all, not rare at all, unlike the shirt! 1st Wakefield Cup Final shirt I've seen up for sale.
The seller must be some kind of collector as he has another couple of match worn shirts for sale as well.

| As a side issue (and by no means is this meant as a criticism of Kevin Rayne) how does such an item end up on ebay? I don't know the circumstances of the 'disposal' from twinnie, but I thought that Wembley was THE big day in the playing career of a player (win or lose) and this item would be the ultimate representation of this, other than the medal (the shirt is more personal). Lots of players past and present in many teams would give their soul to play in such a match and all the trappings that go with it. If it was mine and I'd played at Wembley then it would be the last thing to go, I'd get rid of mi other half and the kids first (probably get more money for the shirt as well).
When our players get there (and win) I hope that they will keep their shirts in a special place and be able to allow 'special viewings' for their grandkids.
Perhaps we see it different as supporters, but at least it gives us 'commoners' the chance to own (if you can afford it).

I think you are being a bit harsh. Maybe it was donated to a charity auction or something. I think also that shirts perhaps have more kudos now than back then, and maybe it was all about the medal, not the shirt. One of the players from the 1962 final swapped his shirt with Richard Harris for a sheepskin coat, and so maybe that puts it into the perspective of the day.
My only regret is that it not one of the more memorable players, like Lampy or Bill Ashurst, but I will be keeping an eye on it tomorrow.

The story I heard was that he knew the player had three children, and so he returned it when we got there again in 1963

| He was a decent bloke if you met him at the right time.
I hope whoever buys this donates it to the Trinity Museum assuming one is set up at the new ground. If I put in the highest bid then that is where it will go to.
