Anyone else seen he's gone to saints on loan for the season with Gaskell going to Salford?

I understand Gaskell going to Salford as he wasn't getting a look in at Saints. But Howarth to saints is a strange one.

Not to me, Stuart was an excellent player for us. Led from the front with a good RL brain and will do OK at Saints.

Thought he was very underrated at BV , and think in a decent team he will go well.

Seconded. I always thought he was good quality that will be better with a better team around him.

I always thought Howarth was better than the team we had at the time allowed him to look.

Everyone knows i'm a huge fan of Stu Howarth's. His reading of the game is exceptionally and he tends to pick the right option at the right time. I don't see him as a hooker, he doesn't have that acceleration or pass accuracy required.

I'd say a stint under Nathan Brown will be a massive boost for him. He's still a few seasons away in my opinion of being a decent SL player but he'll develop into a good loose forward in my opinion

He's already a good SL player, more like a few seasons off being a very good SL player if he keeps it up.

I don't argue that he's a bad player I thought he was very good for us and would have liked him to stay. However as a cover for roby? He's not a hooker at all but will be a great loose forward. Reading the saints/ Salford board a lot of Salford fans didn't rate him but he did seem to play just at hooker for them.

a few weeks ago i mentioned on here when to put it lightly i was putting up replacements for our hero richie mathers i mentioned lee gaskell and was hit by a barage from all sides that he sighned a new contract at saints come on shifty explaine im all confused

I don't understand how he would be a replacement for Mathers as he is a half back or centre not a full back, unless u want to put him to half back, Sykes to centre and smith to full back? Or Sykes to fullback? Gaskell is also out of contract this summer.

unlike me you obviously havent seen lee gaskells carea from acadamy to first team most of his games have been half back or full back hence my nomination for fullback could be wrong but centre must have been a rarity

LOL no you weren't hit by a barrage from all sides when you mentioned Gaskell, I was the only one that directly replied to you bringing said player up and gave my opinion which was, , I got the info off the the Saints board as there was a ongoing topic on about him and they were hoping for big things off Gaskill this year under Brown, some won't be happy.

Like I said at the time as well, if you're after a player who has great defense imo Gaskell isn't that guy and if he were to sign for us I'd play him at stand off.
