In an effort to give something back to the community and the wakie fans that have embraced Ben this season he is running a regular FREE saturday afternoon Fun Fitness class behind the Bronte Pub (Creepers Field) in Normanton (WF6 1LL) every Saturday at 2.30pm til 3.30pm.

The emphasis is very much on fitness for all standards with team games and providing a friendly fun environment making everyone feel welcome and relaxed.
Ben will be assisted by Kyle Wood, Russ Spiers and Tim Smith during the sessions as he hopes to see big numbers attending.

The only restriction is age....you must be 16 and over. But parents are encouraged to bring their Kids if they would like to chat with the lads and get some autographs at the end.

Please feel free to invite your friends and family and turn up Saturday to support Ben and the lads on this fabulous FREE offering.

Ben and Tim Smith came down to do some training for our U13's team - it was a fantastic session and the lads really enjoyed themselves and got a lot out of it. Both players came up to the clubhouse afterwards and signed everything that was shoved under their noses, and posed for photos with every single player and quite a few Mums. It was very definitely above and beyond the call of duty.

To top it off, Ben attended our next home game to support the lads and went in to the dressing room to contribute to the pre-match and half-time team talks.

I think he's deadly serious about reforming himself and giving something back - fair play to the guy, he's proved many people wrong, myself included.

That's great to hear, I didn't want Ben here either but he hasn't put a foot wrong yet, he does seem like he is on the right track, let's hope he keeps it up as I think I would be pretty gutted if he had to leave.

Think my brother may be going to this, I'm working sadly or else I'd be there! He's done brilliantly this year, and the whole "Herbalife" campaign he's been running on Twitter is further evidence of Ben interacting with the fans whilst also thinking of his future career. Anyone else feel really proud of him? Good work Charlie!

Whats happened to Ben Cockayne is a sad reflection of modern life and our desire to blame, shame and brand anyone and everyone. FWIW this is my opinion.

Ben is now casually branded as a racist in RL circles due to one incident as far as we know. When in reality he is not a racist but someone who behaved in a racist way ONCE. He apologised and payed the price, hence he is as far as we are aware not a serial racist - if he had not apologised and carried on racially abusing people then he would be a racist. Again as far as we are generally aware he didn't do this before the event and has not done it since - hence he isn't a racially motivated individual, if he were he simply couldn't be in the same room as Ali or Paul Aiton I'd have thought.

So the race issue was a red herring IMO, that's not down playing it but just giving it some context. The day I can't find it in my heart to forgive someone for a stupid or offensive remark made in the heat of the moment then I think I will have lost all humanity and an understanding of the varied thing we call human nature.

It's harder to defend the random acts of violence Ben has indulged in in the past - if I had my way he'd have done 18 month for what he did but I don't make the rules and I shouldn't judge as I don't have all the facts - however the law has seen to him so as long as he behaves from now on he warrants another chance. However for Ben this is his last chance or certainly his only chance at Wakefield - that must be made clear to him and i'm sure it has. We certainly shouldn't forget what an utter thug he was just because he's one of ours but no need to throw it in his face so long as he keeps up the good stuff.

So far so good for Ben, but he clearly has issues and always will so I will remain prepared for the worst but hope for the best. icon_razz.gifRAY:

" but no need to throw it in his face "

So what exactly are you doing Vastman? Isn't this throwing it in his face?

Your post is also a sad reflection on todays society......far too many negative people.

The nature of this post was to aid Ben in promoting his efforts to give something back to the people who have supported and embraced him after his 'past mis-demeanours'.
Most people have made short positive remarks, yet you thoughtfully chose to pen a negative reply. At least Hull fans who dispise Ben usually do so with off the cuff remarks!

You are a disgrace to be so judgemental without all the facts and boy what a negative life you must lead. You really should get out more.

so what dont you agre with in Vastmans post? He's shown in the past he can go dramatically off the rails, but seems to have turned it around. He is prone to brain explosions so enjoy him while we can! Long may his good behaviour continue.

Think you have totally misunderstood the post - try reading it again.

Just because he's turned a new leaf and is a Trinity player doesn't make the lad a saint, don't be so pathetic.

I'm not judging him, or if I am I'm being very lenient - though you are clearly judging me. That's a shame because I always was and still am fairly supportive of Ben and see him as something of an asset. You on the other hand seem hell bent on arguing with anyone who takes a balanced view, and by that I mean accepts the bad as well as the good.

Normally I'd just dismiss you as someone who is incapable of reading and understanding a post, however I'm willing to give you the benefit and allow you some time to reconsider.

I spoke with Ben the other day about his Herbalife and fitness ventures - he was very open about his past indiscretions and described himself in fairly colourful language; he also said that he's keen to make amends and turn his life, and people's perceptions of him, around.

I'm also told that he's making himself useful around the club, helping out the younger players and doing his bit in the community - I even saw him on Twitter the other night scheming to get Herbalife as a WTW sponsor.

He'll always have done what he did, but he does seem to be making a genuine attempt to reform himself - long may it continue.
