| Now that we have a handul of Aussies playing for our national team. Does anyone know how long, in terms of residency, or other criteria, it takes to become English ?
Also, do the same rules apply in RL as in other walks of life.

If your great great grandparent brushed past a man that has visited England at least once in his lifetime then you can be classed as fully blown English. Job done !

Does that apply to anyone, or is this a rule only for the man of steel.

| To put this into context, Eddie was rendering his sack protein free over two Aussies, one was fijian and one was Samoan!!!
In answer to the original question 2000 years!

| I strongly feel you're Nationality should be influenced by where you have lived the longest. So a 22yo Aussie can play for England when he's 45. Or 44 and a day etc.
I suppose it opens up people to lying about their past though - "I lived in PNG for 2 years, NZ for 3 years etc and Malaysia for a year" etc etc.
I suppose in today's very culturally mixed and PC countries governments are scared to death of alienating foreigners too long.
I think with modern record keeping time spent in places should be considered.

Agree.
But you also have to consider parentage and flukes of where people are born.

What if you were born to English parents whilst they were holidaying in Benidorm or some such?
