The link doesn't work but I presume your talking about Stephen Mullaney who died in '87. I Played rugby with Stephen and his family were friends with mine, sad day when he passed, great little player as well.

yes i remember steven... i watched him on tv scoring at wembley and bursting into tears... and i remember the day we heard from a neighbour (also a relatve of Steven) about his tragic accident...

played many a game against stephen when he played at travellers and later on joined his team mates has a travs player myself,the players that remained spoke fondly of him and certainly missed him and he was the star player of a side that went on to win all before them has they got older.

he was a very good player has a young lad and we will never know how far he could have gone in the game.

as a lad I could remember watching a few of the games used to be played on grandstand before the final, they don't seem to find the time now

It's clear that the public school dominated BBC don't give a shee-ite about RL - I hope it's removed from the crown jewels list for next season and Sky take it over. At least we'll get:

Proper coverage
No Ray French rambling like a batty old geezer
HD
Decent camera work
No Jonathon Davies whining and moaning about everything

I can tolerate Waldorf and Statler and a few adverts if it means all of the above improvements.

I played in the 1979 curtain raiser when Trinity played Widnes. Must say it was one of the best rugby playing days of my life. Its a real shame that the BBC dont show it anymore!
I think Sky would do a better job of broadcasting the whole day even though I dont subscribe
