Can anyone explain to me why we have segregation areas in the ground with the exception of the east stand.
I have been a member for over 60 years but if this problem is not addressed for next year then my membership
will end. On a number of occasions this season we have been inundated with away supporters in the centre of the
east stand. There were times on Sunday when I thought we were going to have an incident.
Would it not be possible to reserve one of the end sections for away supporters and segregate them. The norm for super league.
I feel this has now become a health and safety issue and should be addressed by the club as a matter of urgency.

Also an issue on Sunday with fans walking up the steps into the stand. With no steward on the gate after kick off tickets weren't being checked.

Difficulty segregating the East Stand comes from not having Stewards checking tickets at each of the entrance doors of the stand. The East Stand wings and centre have a metal barrier between them, but I’ve not seen checking of tickets for a few seasons now. I did notice more away fans in there on Sunday than usual. but nothing to get upset about. Not sure where you sit but in front of commentary row where I am seems ok.

Years ago, the East Stand did have segregation, the North wing was for home fans and South wing for away fans, the tickets were checked by the gate man at each door into the stand. Not sure when it became none segregated, Perhaps it will be easier to control when the new stand is built.

At 22 years a bit of a novice but to the best of my recall, it has always been open to all that pay to upgrade. I have never seen any notable issues between fans in the East Stand the odd spat over reserved seats and a few with the 'I've sat here for years' definitely nothing to get excited about. Rather than coming on here the day after, you should have spoken to someone at the game then they could see exactly what you see as a problem as it is you should at least email the club directly in my opinion.

I guess the lack of segregation in the East Stand is mainly due to the expectation that old fogies know better than to start a scrap? icon_wink.gif

It’s sad that some of you are joking about segregation of the east stand. It will be no joke if fighting breaks out and the club is fined.

It's been like this for a long time people who don't sit in the East stand don't know what it's like, This year we had St helens fans shouting at Wakefield all the way through it really did get on your bits, They sat there obviously to provoke us. All the other away grounds sit us right in the corner out of the way but with no stewards everything goes at wakey I don't think it's going to change

The thing I can’t get my head around regarding segregation in standing areas is, at some games you can enter the ground through the turnstiles where away fans go, walk up the stairs past the snack bar and then into the Northstand...on odd occasions though like Sunday, all of a sudden you can’t and have to walk round to the turnstiles behind the Northstand?...Then, having not been allowed to just walk past a few away fans you make your way into the Northstand to get passed by away fans who’ve entered the Doncaster Road turnstiles...

On another note...was surprised to learn on Sunday that you’re allowed to smoke anywhere in the Northstand that’s not under cover! Not good for a non smoker who doesn’t like it (doesn’t bother me)...or supporters in their late 70’s like my old man who has lung and breathing issues and now can’t stand where he has for the last 30 odd years if people choose to smoke there...
