| Just reading the thread about where did we go wrong and seeing all those Trinity names of the past led me to think who was the greatest Trinity tackler in living memory?
My vote goes to someone who never seems to get a mention, but to me was even better than either Nigel Bell or Geoff Wraith.
Who these days remembers Geoff Wriglesworth? He was a farmer from the York area as I recall and Trinity only had him for a short while around 1972 after playing for Bradford Northern and Leeds.

| Rich Slater, one game I remember he made five tackles in five play the balls, missed the sixth though!

| I agree RS indeed was a prolific and safe tackler. I recall seeing Sam Obst doing a similar thing to Slater on several occasions.

| Has to be Graham Idle for me. But there have been a lot of others. These days it seems to be all about cuddling.

| For me pound for pound it's Nigel Bell no question but as I started watching in 1988 I've not seen them all.

| Geoff Wriglesworth was one of the old school. None of this four men in a tackle all going around the upper body. He usually went in one-on-one low around the legs shoulder first. A joy to watch.

And he had a hand-off like a piston.

Wigan away, first game of the Super Eights. Jordan put some of the bigger names in the side to shame that night, 34 tackles made and no misses if I remember right?

Seem to remember that name, would he have played in the game against the Aussies around 73?

| Mr Idle without a doubt.
Others
Nigel Bell, Mcdermott , and a centre we got from Hull could have called him Day. He also became captain for a short spell.

| players who were tackled by Wrigglesworth usually went down like thy had been shot with a gun...
Idle was a machine as was Paul McDermott...
Belly came good but I still remember his first couple of seasons (after his Wally partnership) when the team was poor and badly coached and he looked fat and lazy and played like it... I never really forgave him for that period and consequently he was never a favourite player of mine.
Players like John Glancy and Richard Slater deserve mention but my vote goes to Ray Price.. he seemed to hit like a steam train!

| Watching olds tapes of Nigel Bell you have to laugh at his "gull wing" technique of laying on in the tackle.
