Not sure what got up my nose the most them 4 pr@tts' trying to out talk each other or Silverwood's screeching, on the kicking front according to them they go from poor to great to fantastic to unbelievable, on the plus side I managed to watch most of the first half with sound, and only turned it back up for the handbag stuff to see what was said, fwiw poor officiating tonight.

Watched Super League Backchat the other day and Danny Lockwood was all for Les Cats not getting to Old Trafford, as he said the place would be half empty.
If that's the view of a supposed dyed in the wool league man, we may as well have the usual suspects getting to every final each year.

Watched the NRL finals and the difference between the quality of those down under and Sky is night and day. The big difference was they didn't dwell on on incidents too long, no matter how serious, They got on with the game and did what they're supposed to do, keep up with the game offering imaprtial analysis and play by play. The idiots on Sky seem incapable of that and can talk about one incident for up to 10 minutes, while the game continues.

They turn the commentary into a combination of boots n all and backchat, anyone watching league for the first time were, in effect, being told it wasn't worth watching as the result was a foregone conclusion. Maybe it was but it surely it isn't their job to promote this view over and over. Even Carney had a dig telling Hemmings that he (Hemmings) had written Catalan off after just 53 minutes. Well, it was long before that. Pathetic commentary.

I rarely watch the games on Sky now and when I do I have it on my computer with the sound off so I can watch something else on the main TV and just glance across for the score. I got fed up of all that looking for controversy in every single passage of play. "Was there a hand in?", "Did that ball bobble?", "Was there a knock-on in the build up?", "Was there daylight between fingertip and ball?". It's reminiscent of the shock jock style of commentary that became popular in American wrestling in the 80s and 90s. Stevo should be living on the streets the number of times he's 'bet his house on it' and been wrong.

I personally like listening to Stevo, what ever he says happened, you know that what actually happened is exactly the opposite.
How bad was Silverwood by the way, Catalan never had a chance with the howlers he made.

I was less bothered by the commentary than the ref. He was aweful towards Catalan.

Always looked like Catalans were going to get hammered by the ref and so they did; likewise, Wigan were given free reign to employ all of their underhand tactics against Wire - encroaching on the 10 (he warned them 3 times but never penalised them) laying on, cannonballs and elbows/heads to the face in the tackle.

I guess they got the final they wanted.

I thought that too, Liam Farrell in particular got away with a string of dark tactics even though he was penalised for some he was allowed to just continue doing it.
