| Like the title says we are the world famous Wakefield Trinity RLFC which is a brand we should be proud of and keep promoting so now is a good time to drop the wildcats add on. It was a rushed in when we got promoted baçk in 98 when for some reason we thought you had to add a nickname to your title. I say with the new start drop the wildcats new back to tradition badge ( some good ones doing the rounds on twitter) we will sell more merchandise and generate more money . Wigan went back to their proper badge years ago and you don't see much of the warriors name. Keep daddy cool for the kids but we are the world famous brand that is Wakefield Trinity RLFC and let's get back to it.

I don't agree. I didn't agree on the last thread either.
It costs us money to rebrand, which we don't have
We lose the brand that attracts the kids.
Anyone who harps for the days when we were Wakefield Trinity without the Wildcats will probably come with or without the Wildcats logo.
IF we are to do this, it needs to be when we are back on top, not at the bottom of the hill.

I don't agree with the first part. I and many others are a living example of a 'kid' from the 90s who got hooked on the Trinity brand. I miss very few games since those days and in my mid-late 20s now not once have I referred to them as wildcats.
I do however agree that a re-brand should be done in a more positive place than we are at now club wise.
I can see how there would be arguements for both sides but I really can't be bothered writing a balanced arguement lol.

| If we had a trinity shirt with the daft wildcats badge and a trinity shirt with the traditional Badge on sale side by side we would sell far more of the traditional badge. As for the kids stuff I bet your average 14 year old would rather walk around with a badge that meant something rather than a cartoon cat. It's worked for Wigan saints hull FC hull KR and every football club

| Its realy a judgement call is this.
Personaly its Trinity all the way for me, we have a heritige other clubs can only dream of which we have never marketed and i also think that the wildcats name is linked now with a succesion of failures.
For others they are wildcat fans, my little 'un knows who the Wildcats are but has little idea about Trinity.
Rebranding can undoubtably be a boost - look at the Bulls and Bull mania, look at what salford are trying to do - but its no guarantee and costs money.
As a club i don't think we actually know our own identity as we are now on our third batch of ownwers in almost as many years.
Going forward i think we need to clearly define who and what we are, and develop a long term strategy to help fulfill that, but from small and sustainable footings so that when the financials get sorted out (and we will - one way or another) we can start to focus on what kind of a club we are and start to build in a positive direction for the future.
Either way it'll be a while off if or when we look at it - i'm sure.

| I think there are far more things to concentrate on at the moment and anyway I disagree with the original post.

Me too, especially at Whitehaven August 1998. Me and some mates had been at V Festival at Temple Newsam for weekend and left to drive up to Whitehaven for game to then go back again for the evening. Well worht missing whatever acts were on that afternoon. Happy days!!

| Wigan have W.A.R.R.I.O.R. on their shirt, just above the coat of arms/badge.
But they have made the Warrior stand for something.
At the moment there could be some good ones for what Wildcat stands for.

| the wildcats is a cringeworthy nickname the worse in RL ridiculed by other fans. We have a world famous brand Wakefield Trinity RLFC. If we want to maximise merchandise sales we should drop the wildcats bad get back to our original badge. Ask hull fans if they prefer the sharks badge and add on or their traditional Hull FC name.

I'm not a big fan of the Wildcats name but if we were successful this discussion would not be happening.
Wouldn't matter if it was a Wildcat or a coat of arms, if you are winning people will support the club.
A change of name doesn't mean a change in fortunes.
Hull changed their name, then moved into a brand spanking new stadium. This helps too!
The club probably use the Wildcat as a marketing tool for the younger end.
They may not go to the match but they might be more inclined to buy something from the shop with a cat on it than a badge.
