An interesting interview. Very telling as to how little money we have, how vulnerable we left ourselves with closed season recruitment and a lot of contradictions I thought, between what he says is crucial and what we did in regards to 1,6,7 and 9. Lack of money or not, what we do have doesn't appear to have been directed to what we needed.

| Quote: MOPSEY LIVES ON "he as basically admit to throwing Applegarth to the wolves with an understrengh inadequate squad. You have chanced your arm on getting away with it on the cheap, stop the bull and go now. The fans are divided and poisoned against each other like I've never seen, you rule with an iron fist of divide and conquer and you are stripping the happiness from this club. The dark days in the 80s, Ted and glover at least give us hope, your only interest is yourself.'"
I can't agree with any of that. I do think he has the club's best interests at heart. I do think his record overall as to where we are as a club is good. I just think he and the club have really messed up big time on recruitment in the closed season. They've made mistakes. That's human and I don't agree with aspersions on character because I know for a fact Michael has good character.
I was dismayed at the hall deal. Now I've heard the reasoning I'm less dismayed but I have to say, we put ourselves in the position of sacrificing Hall for a full back.
"Doing it on the cheap"? We don't have the resources for anything else. He doesn't. He's made that crystal clear. He HAS put 2 million in. He doesn't want his directors loan back. You can't say that's selfish.
Between him and whoever else made recruitment decisions, they messed up. I'd like to hear an acknowledgement of that personally but there we go.

Ted and glover gave us hope you’ve forgot to mention the Pearman debacle rather conveniently. The current board can’t hold a candle to those crooks . Whilst the glover era with the big crowds with only half paying to get in , didn’t last long till he was out the door .

Well you can only judge a man based on your own experience of him so I’ve no problem with your assessment based on what you know of him.
Suffice to say I wholeheartedly disagree with you based on my experiences of him and I’m not alone!
There is no record of him putting £2,000,000 into the club, I doubt he’s got the kind of wealth that would allow that sort of investment

Unfortunately, I do know of people who have had professional dealings with him, since I have, both former employees of the club and external businesses, and based upon that, I have to side with The Avenger here

Give it a rest. What exactly have you ever done that comes close to what MC has done. Answer, nothing.

Very mature!
It’s not on the balance sheet so where’s the record of it?

In not too distant future, your wish of seeing him out will come true and MC will be stepping down from his role as CEO…
So I was wondering what you would have done different? And what would you tell the new CEO he needs to do differently baring in mind he will still in principle be working from the same budget until we start to receive monies from the new stand and pitch upgrade?
Not looking for an argument…. Just a sensible answer

Because it's not 2 million, but it's not far off and it's certainly way more than you've invested.
In fact please tell us exactly what your cash investment in the club is? Mines £500, with that poultry figure in mind I don't feel able to dismiss MC's contribution in the same appalling manner you have just done.
Finally pray tell how you know Michael Carters personal wealth, you must know or how could you state he doesn't have that kind of money, I'm happy to wait for an answer.

Here’s what I actually said
Quote: vastman "There is no record of him putting £2,000,000 into the club, I doubt he’s got the kind of wealth that would allow that sort of investment'"
Hardly an”appalling manner” is it?
He was quoted, as new owners often are, when he took over as being worth around £4 million, I can’t imagine he’s put half his net worth into the club.

| I don't think we've ever really recovered from the Richardson/Pearman fiasco.
Lost Andy Kelly, lost the ground. nearly lost Super League status (if not for Neil Fox singing John Kear's praises), nearly lost the club twice.
Happy Days.

The rot set in well before that. Flattening the South stand, moving the ground to build a supermarket on North end was the first draft idea.
We also had a period in the 80's when we were in division2. Those days were grim and for that reason, championship is not for me.
Carter causes controversy, he may have qualities but from the way he has run the rugby side over the last three years, I am convinced more than ever in the direction the team are going.

| I just think we've got unlucky (again), but this time at the wrong time.
He can't spend money we don't have, and there is no sign that the club is sitting on unspent funds. We can't make players come to us, and we shouldn't spend more than we have. The only other option is that we gamble on pulling in the punters by spending cash we don't have, but the club is rightly cautious about doing that. It's the entertainment business, and we have to provide an entertaining product to attract the crowds, but that path has been trodden before, and it never ends well, if there's no one to fund the shortfall.
Personally, I don 't mind if he's a tough cookie in a business sense. I'd rather we paid what we think a player is worth, no more.
I've said it before, but we're three years too late with the ground. We could have maybe got away with it, but the promoted side has come up looking good, which is where our luck runs out. We've avoided the drop before because of the quirks of franchising, or because of the weakness of the promoted side, or because we only had to beat a championship side to stay up. This year, our luck has run out. Poorest side. Cas will get better. Leigh will get wins. We will go into the Championship.
If the ground had happened three years ago, we'd be spending the cap and picking up those IMG points, and maybe even a crowd to match.
