When he gets his chance, he won't be Billy Slater and will make mistakes, plenty over time but it doesn't mean he's not good enough, just like England Knights player Jowitt. People wanted rid of Lynne and Johnstone because 'They were garbage'. Patience and support goes along way!

IMO that's not the way to develop a player. The top clubs don't drop young talent because of a mistake, they're given encouragement on the field.
I remember Gelling playing at Wigan and I thought why are Wigan persevering with this kid-he made error after error but they did and he turned out to be a good player.

Maybe a good call in giving him a chance, and has to be given one at some point.

You need to be patient with the kids, as they need time to grow in confidence and stature. TJ did make a few errors at the start of how career, as will have others.

An example of being patient with a player is Reece Lyne, and also the ex Australian cricketer Steve Waugh, one of the finest batters of all time, but has stats in his first 20-30 tests were pretty average

Of course it matters, for one, people are paying £20 for this game, plus if we win then the club get an extra £25K compared with finishing 6th.

Max did drop a couple and did not have his best game. The night before, Williams the wigan 'wonder kid' dropped far more but they will not be talking about ditching him.

In all fairness to Max he probably did not even know he was playing till milky pulled out earlier in the day. It must also be obvious to him that he is under the microscope and any blunder he makes gives the coach an excuse to play Grix. I should imagine that's quite a bit of pressure for a young bloke.

Going back to Steve, think up to the 89 Ashes series, he had played a number of tests, and didnt have a good average. He had a good series, and the rest is history.
