| Shifty Cat:Spookisback:
I thought Josh Rourke was pretty good throughout the game... Our ruck speed was far quicker when Smith was on the pitch... We missed MM influence in the middle when he moved to edge forward... I thought that was when Hull started to gain a foot hold in the game... We missed Vangana on the edge... For me Atoni was our best forward on the night... Rodwell looked ok but out of match fitness... Faatili was effective and I was disappointed when he came off as he was bending the Hull defensive line with every carry... We moved the ball wide too early again, offering Hull the chance to take out our wide players... john Stone had his best game of the season... Might have been unlucky, I still can't see where he is on the match footage, replay (maybe I'm just getting old and a bit foggy eyed) ... We were just short in this game, and the reasons we were so was mostly self inflicted... One observation, Pratt got bundled into touch when he should have found the turf, when a similar situation arose in the second half he went straight to ground, good learning and application of learning... We made a couple of silly errors but we also did some really good stuff... Getting over the line 5 times (albeit 3 were disallowed) against a very stubborn and well drilled Hull defence was a real positive. I agree with nearly all of that apart from the speed of our ruck. I was just listening to the Hertigae podcast and they echoed my thoughts about a couple of things. That when Hood's on we're just a better team and the ruck speed in that first half hour especially was awesome, although we didn't get the points we should have. It was some of the best stuff we've played this season. After the disallowed tries & when Hood went off for me things started to change in that second half and we started to gradually lose control of things and made errors. You could see that the spine of Rourke, Lino, Russell and Smith hadn't played together because when Hull started to get on top through Sezer's kicking game, we looked a bit clueless with the ball, not finishing sets off well, making the wrong plays & making errors and then Hood came back on and Cam Scott scored but it was too little too late. McMeeken moving into SR didn't help things and it again showed what a machine he is for us in the middle but Smith is just a different kind of hooker and doesn't have that experience, physicality and decision-making ability that Hood has at hooker yet but he's still very young. Just to add Pitt's made 50 tackles, beast. As you mentioned we lacked that extra cutting edge that Vagana gives us in the back row out wider, he offers something different to the other backrowers. Rodwell did probably what was expected of a guy returning from injury but you know he's just gonna get better and better. Griffin, similarly played pretty well but there's room for him to improve. Cam Scott was well guarded by Hull, unsurprisingly, but he did a decent job in his first proper game for Trinity. Similarly, Rourke did well for his first game for us as well, especially with his running game but I think we missed Jowitt's extra play-making abilities especially because lost Trueman. He just brings that extra dimension as a playmaker that good teams all have and he's become an excellent defensive fullback and sorts the defensive line out massively, barking orders out to them. Rourke's different to that, he's much more of a running threat than Max but doesn't have that playmaking ability Max has. You make some good points ,but did not help our fall off in second half with having 4 players in who were not up to speed after injury back in . Mr Powell did say that he thought the centres went in to touch to easy, and was disappointed with Cam Scott who had a bad one

| Thought Cam Scott was a bit off the pace after his injury and Chamberlain ghosted past him for his try.Would have left back line alone, same as previous game.Agree with a previous poster that we passed the ball too quickly to the wings without drawing the tacklers. Would have expected better had Trueman played. As regards some questions as to whether Tom is 'up to it' anymore,I can't help but smile.By his own admission he's not the quickest in the league anymore, but I can't think of another winger in SL I'd swap him for.

| I agree. Trueman was the miss. He gives us a lot of composure in attack and makes good decisions.
Scott wasn't terrible but will take a bit of catching up. The try was as much about McMeekan being in the second row. It's hard to switch from middle to SR, even if you've played there before.
Tom is just Tom. Even on his worse day he's still making more yards than anyone else. And we need to be kicking more kicks for him to the corner for tries as well as dropouts

| Tom must be averaging about 150 meters a game so far and he's just easing his way in, big post contact from him as well.
Some really good meters and post-contact from Griff for his first game back in ages. Rodwell's only gonna get better from that.
Renouf had a big game down the middle 132 meters from 14 carries and Caleb was good as usual 116 meters from just 10 carries, both with big post-contact meters. Seems to be a theme so far this season that our middles are making on average around 10 meters per carry, really impressive compared to our previous years in SL. As most thought, moving Big Mike to the second row stopped his usual effectiveness down the middle, which we needed in that second half with Rodwell just coming back.
Pitts did another 100 meters and I also think he had around 50 tackles which is crazy.

| Biggest difference between the teams was Sezer. In the second half he absolutely bossed it, and his kicking game kept us pinned back for large parts of the game. I thought we pretty much matched them other than that, it was a good contest between two teams missing key players.
The only other comment I would make is that it's embarrassing watching Rugby League players throwing themselves on the floor to win a penalty.

| We played a very Similar game against the Giants, but managed to get the better of them in the end. Hull Fc are a decent team, Ese Ese is colossal for them, with their edges very good too. Sezer pulled the strings perfectly both with his kicking game, running game and passing plays. That defeat for me hurt the most out of any others so far, as we should have been out of sight by HT. We really have the potential to be a top quality top 6 team, but feel we have quality issues on our edges throughout the games so far this season. Most of the mistakes or just poor plays have come from our edges and that’s what the difference is.
Im not naming players specifically but we simply need to be better in those areas as our forwards are putting us in great field positions but then knock on’s, offsides and drag outs just don’t get us to the level which we all envisage our team being at. Those 1%’s add up and make you pay once 80 minutes is up.

Your right about Sezer ,think we still got the same problem as last year Max and Lino are the only two main players in the spine who take the line on .Hoods is doing a good job at 9 directing play The forwards have not taken a backward step ,who ever is picked . You are right we have the potential to be a top 6 team, .but it is not helping having to change players in key position every game .But still happy at the progress we are making and enjoying the rugby we are playing

We could have been comfortably 20-0 up at HT but we weren’t. We had an outstanding 30 mins both in attack and defence but then silly errors, poor completion and execution let the choke hold off Hull Fc and they are too good of a team to allow that to happen to. Sezer, specifically in the second half comfortably kept us penned within our 3/40 for large periods with some of their best defensive sets coming towards the back end of the game.
We were then drawn into 1 out rugby. Hull FC for me were and are our biggest main competitor for that 6th position. With Wire now signing Sneyd who will guide them around the park like the pro he is, we need to quickly tighten up our edge completion or we’ll finish comfortably 8th, which that being said most would be happy with seeing where we have been for the last how many years, though I don’t think our owner et al will be.
Just from watching the first games of the season we are a quality 7, centre and winger away from being a comfortable top 6 team. We have Smoothy coming in, though Hood to his credit has been immense.

| I have read all the posts about our shortcomings and how great Sezer was but come on people the only difference between a win and a loss was a little slice of luck. Hull were outplayed by us overall but got every call in their favour. 2 of the 3 tries disallowed would have been given if they weren't sent up as no tries and the "forward" pass to Johnstone was marginal to say the least and would have won the match.

We have got so used to video calls going against us and 50/50 calls ,it is just like water of a ducks back .We always win the hard way .When I was at the Leeds game ,and we were playing well I was thinking what is going to go wrong in this game .Guess it is the fun of watching Wakefield
