Always makes me laugh when someone reckons they can count the crowd themselves.

Most clubs (in lots of sports) do this counting "tickets sold" (or given away), rather than the actual number attending. Although I think that for official purposes eg Safety organisations, they do have to reveal the actual number of people attending. And I think IMG work on actual numbers as well (?)

We probably do it ourselves. Our opening league match v Bradford was quoted as a 7221 sellout, but I'm not sure there were quite that many in the ground. There seemed a few too many empty seats in the new stand.
