| Sadly, just too young to talk too much about Wembley 79, I was only 6, and didnt go.
My late father, however, was part of the Wakefield schools coaching set up, and was one of the coaches for the Wakefield schoolboys who played in the curtain raiser, losing to St Helens.
Been several times since, however, but just for the day. This year though, going down Friday after work, and returning Sunday

| Attended the 1960,1962 &1979 Trinity finals. Missed the 1968 owing to getting married two months later and cash was a little short. Remember 1960 final against Hull for the Big Fella's scoring records, and it was a red hot day. The Coldstream marching guardmen were fainting in numbers.

| First one was 1963 v Wigan. A really hot day. We went down in my 'Uncle's' Ford Anglia. I remember him doing 90 down the M1 which in those days started/finished at Leicester. Next was the watersplash final in '68. It should never have been played but nobody wanted to disappoint those who were there. We were robbed that day never mind Don's missed goal kick. Brother Neil had been injured in the Championship Final against Hull KR the week before if I remember correctly. 1979 was a big disappointment. We took a gamble and played the great Bill Ashurst but it didn't pay off. Though I always remember Keith Smith being obstructed by a Widnes player when he might have scored It went unpunished. I went to quite a few finals subsequently but it's never the same when it's not your team. Can't go this weekend but good luck Trin.

| 79 was my first ever trip to Wembley and I loved it (despite losing)...
then 92 world cup final (just got into Heathrow from a holiday in the Maldives and Dubai)
93 GB v Kiwis... (and the junior Kiwis starring Henry Paul a few weeks before he signed for Trinity)
95 centenary world Cup final (with Status Quo)
96 and 97 finals between the Bulls and Saints with my now sadly departed best mate and his wife
I will be watching from Aus. on Saturday (Sunday morning for me) If I can get the technology to work …
enjoy Wembley it holds a special place for League and for Trinity!

| I was unable to go in 68 as I couldn't find anyone to be responsible for me as an 11 year old so my first Wembley was in 1972. That was the year Wakefield Trinity were allowed to have a collection on behalf of Peter Harrison who'd had to have his leg removed after breaking it in Good Friday game against Castleford.
I've been to every challenge cup final since apart from the covid year. I've always enjoyed the day out, I've never lost the thrill when seeing the old girl, those magnificent twin towers always raised the hair on the back of the neck. New Wembley is a fantastic stadium with everything you could ever wish for but sadly for me has not got the soul that the old Wembley had.
I'm looking forward to shouting on my team on Saturday it's been along time between meals, ( too long) , so hopefully we'll be going back in the very near future.
