| Bradford are concerned that if they move to Valley Parade the pitch won't meet minimum requirements of 88 metres playing surface plus 6 metres in goal and 3 metres space to the barriers.
If this were applied to Fev & Cas, the playing area would have to extend to the front gardens of the terrace at the end (if they have one) and onto the railway line at Cas.
We are light years ahead of both of these grounds as we stand now, even before the Eastern side development.

| Quote PopTart="PopTart"To try and get back on track, one thing that struck me this week is how many good stadiums there are in the championship.
I'm happy with what we've done but Featherstone, Doncaster, York and I assume Widnes is still the same, all have modern stadiums.
Until we do the West terrace ours is still going to look poor in comparison, even though the Neil Fox Stand is top notch.'"
It's a myth that Featherstone have a modern ground. Floodlights don't work, you can see from the bottom of the slope, the main stand is similar to the old East Stand and the opposite side isn't up to much either. It's talked up by people who've never been. Wheldon Road is better.

| Ok maybe modern is the wrong work but it's covered on 3 sides and I seem to remember it was comfortable last time I went.
Of course it's been a while so maybe my memory is playing tricks!!

| I have to agree with everyone.
I admire Fev for what they have done, but whichever way you view it, it’s putting lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.
BV has good bones, it always did. The pitch is full size, the floodlights are magnificent, and the modern main stand has a large car park facing onto one of the main roads into the city.
There is not one part of BV that is so hemmed in it can’t be fully redeveloped.to a reasonable degree without needing to move or in any way alter the pitch.
It’s by far and away the best located old stadium in the RL outside of Leeds. Even Headingley lacks a decent entrance/facade.
We just need to methodically redevelop BV into a 10K plus stadium, and it will be one of the best small to medium sized stadiums in the U.K., in any sport imho.

| Some intersting comments so far and a point has been mentioned that really needs addressing if RL is to be serious about the sport and that is pitch dimensions. I think its laughable that Bradford still should be allowed to play the game on a pitch that dosnt even meet minimum dimensions. I also think it should be a stipulation that all teams in the Sl should have full size pitchs.

Agree and that’s what I meant when I said BV had good bones. A full sized flat pitch should be a prerequisite for the top flight.
Neither Post OfficeRoad or Wheldon road have that. To get just the pitches to standard would cost millions because things will need knocking down to do it.
I’m not gloating it’s just a fact. We have the only international standard pitch in the WMDC, and despite what the fans from the other clubs will say, it matters both in cost terms and IMG eligibility. What Cas fans never seem to take into consideration is the cost-implication. Even if they end up with a pot similar to our own, approx 11 million. By my reckoning to get a full-sized pitch and new lighting along with the structural work required will cost at least 3 million. That will mean that Cas will have only 8 million to redevelop what I'd suggest would be three sides of the ground. As we know, that doesn't go far these days.
Also interesting to note that Bradford say that Odsal is stopping them getting into SL, which is true. What there CEO also said was that they had looked at returning to Valley Parade, but had rejected it because the pitch was too small! So it Clearly is an issue.

| Does anyone know when the next phase is starting? Think it’s the final phase which is the
2 floor refurbishment to create a gym, cafe, studio rooms and changing/shower facilities.
They should finish off all works then.
The previous regime said that it would be after the east stand completion I believe.

That plan probably isn't the same plan for Ellis.
It was a good idea but it wasn't his idea.

| I recently have been to watch some junior finals at Fev, it’s looking very tired I’m afraid, I sat in the stand where the dugouts are, its dropping to bits, there was seats missing just leaving metal frames and these were at the side of seats designated for directors, I bet they were chuffed to bits seeing them. The pitch was a disgrace, no fault of their own just too many games being played on it, the groundsman will have to work wonders to have it up to standard for the start of the season

That is exactly what is wrong with our game, we dont seem to have standards when it comes to the most important part, the actual pitch. For a so called proffesional sport many of our pitchs are a disgrace.
