The squad really wasn't okay on paper. No depth at fullback which cost us badly. Having Smith, Lino and Gaskell as our choices in the halves was clearly the worst in the league. Knowing that even had Tanginoa been fit all year, we would still be relying on players such as Lynne, Ashurst and Pitts when they are so clearly past their peak. There is no hiding from that, the majority could see it from the games in pre-season.
Mash does have his fair share to answer for - looking shocking in attack the vast majority of the year being the main one. Persistence with Proctor despite making no meaningful contribution and not being able to play enough minutes another.
