Quote: MOPSEY LIVES ON "is the club Carter leaves behind in better shape than when he came in. We've a new stand not paid for by him but a massive amount of debt over 4 million quid, I suppose it depends on one's point of view.'"
as Marc Bolan wrote…’ life’s an elevator… it goes up and down’
Carter introduced systems , processes and a culture that stabilised a business that had rapidly fallen out of control…ultimately, the debt associated with buying the ground was based on sound economics.. and sustainable. The ground redevelopments were out-with that.
However, even the simplest MBA principles speak to the conflict between administrators and entrepreneurs… so is Carter to blame because he is an administrator and not an entrepreneur?? Is Minnards to blame because he only has the skills which created an outcome of ground redevelopment that most fans had dismissed as fantasy???… when pushed to lead I believe they have done the best they could… with the skills they have.. this is not soccer where club owners are queuing at the door waiting for an opportunity.
so yes… I suppose it depends on one’s point of view!
It seems the decisions to appoint Applegarth and Ford were poor ones… possibly made by people who were ill-equipped to make them… we are all one decision from failure (or success… depending on your luck)
