| The synthetic pitch directly led to two Catalan tries due to unusual bounces. First when Murphy failed to clean up and second when they sent out a dreadful pass to Davies that would be expected to dribble about but kicked up into his arms for a simple try. We had lost position with the second but if players want to be professional they need to make professional decisions and make the ball safe. Catalan rarely looked like exploiting field position so just put the ball dead. The same should go for the referee. He could spot marginal forward pass from a short pass at a 90 degree angle but let Johnstone score from a forward pass all the crowd could see was 2 yards forward and viewed on TV the pitch markings confirm as 4 yards forward.
Also, are we too naive to lay on in the ruck to allow the defence to set and gain control by slowing the ruck. Catalan were allowed to do this at every opportunity so clearly the rules have changed to allow this spoiling tactic. Why didn't we do it??

We tried and conceded six agains. Wasn’t even as long as Catalan were taking scuttling over players and wrestling on floor. Wakey tried it and the ref had no patience for us trying to emulate Catalans. It’s the inconsistencies around six again I guess. I absolutely hate how it’s applied indifferently.

I know. I was just trying to make a point, without resorting to the obvious, that this was yet another in a very long line of extremely poor refereeing performances stretching back over many years. We do suffer from not being on TV very often and that is something that Super League should be sorting out either by televising every game or making sure that all clubs are equally represented on TV. Ultimately though, it's about time the refereeing fraternity took responsibility for their performances and showed a glimmer of improvement.

It’s frustrating for the fans but you can visibly see the frustration on the players. Numerous times trinity players were trying to play the ball only to be denied the right yet no repercussions. I don’t know whether it’s referees perception of top half/bottom half teams but teams seem to be reffed inconsistently.
I refer back to when Whitbread landed on his front with a good charge. Tried to get up earning the quick play. Player on him. Tried again. Plsyer pushed him back down. By time he played it it was so slow and he was frustrated visibly.
Then in contrast late in 2nd half when Catalan player did same. Had a player on him who got off a lot faster yet referee waving six again for Catalans. The inconsistency is just poor for the game.
I wish it was scrapped.

| The consistency of the refereeing inconsistency can only lead to the conclusion that it is deliberate and not seen as a problem by the controller of referees.

| Agree with all the above, in fact it's a big turn off for me, not just the ambiguous 6 again rule, but the blatant things refs are missing, that forward pass for johnstone's try was a shocking miss, it wasn't even debatable, then the one were he dropped the ball over the line. I can only think he gave a penalty try for reefing the ball, which is what Johnstone claimed had happened.
Just want a level playing field, that's twice on the trot that particular ref has done us.

If that did happen then isn’t there a rule you can strip the ball in the act of scoring? Think it was introduced 2022 season. TJ didn’t ground that second one so I was confused by it. Don’t think the officials had much of a clue.
The offside was ridiculous too. Pinned on our 10 with a number of offside defenders (mcollurum more than once) and then we kick and defending in our own 40 ref gives offside vs trinity. I’m sure the refs probably aren’t biased but it sure is hard to argue against it when things go consistently against you and don’t tend to even out.

Don't know about the stripping rule in goal, I was trying to find a reason he gave it, as he clearly didn't ground it, and was going on johnstones stripping reaction.
As I said before, it really is a big turn off and is doing the game no good at all.
By the way, these things were part of the defeat, not the whole reason. that second half was shocking.

I agree. They formed part of the defeat as you say. I won’t blame solely the decisions. A good chunk was poor game management and mistakes on the teams part.
