If the big 4 had their way that’s exactly what’d they be doing.

No. What they want is to play sustainable competitive teams.
The "big four" could quite easily by the big 8.
The point of all this work is to get in that group.

They most likely only owe it to one old man who is absolutely loaded and sees the club as his muse.

The thing that struck me most when I read this article is the level of losses some clubs are running up on a yearly basis. However the same clubs are the ones screaming the loudest to increase the salary cap. It seems the more money they can borrow , the happier they are.

That is clearly stated in the report.

The thing I don't understand is, he could fund a purpose built ground for that club, one that they own and is there for 100 years. That would be someway to leave a legacy.

Instead he tries to chase trophies.

Find it rather odd myself.

The Big 4 are only the Big 4, because they actively sustain a "them and us" mentality, economy and structure for the game.

Whilst it's in the game's interest to grow, it's in the Big 4's interest to keep it just how it is.

They are happy to be the big fish in a small pond.

Hopefully that will change.

The very fact the big four are not the same big four from the first few years kinda disproves that.

Obviously Huddersfield haven't heard of the old saying ( cut your cloth accordingly) which in these times of uncertainty ring ever more true . If the boot was on the other foot as we have already previously witnessed by Shudds they’d be circling over belle vue as we speak . No good putting the salary cap up or having past it players on silly wages under the guise of marquee player when there simply isn’t the money coming into the game at present or fans to justify it . . Home grown is the way to go and put something back into the grass roots so there are pathways for the next stars to come through . Carter had it spot on and long may he continue to captain the ship .

Huddersfield aren’t in any trouble whatsoever so no one is circling around their assets like they did when we were in financial dire straits, that’s the crucial difference here.

Ken Davy has told The Giants what level of financial backing he’s prepared to give and he will never call his Directors loans back in. I know some on here would love to think that when Ken dies Huddersfield will be up the creek without a paddle but that won’t be the case. As I’ve said here before his granddaughter Becky will take over his position and she’s a bigger fan of supporting the Giants than he is.
