Was he ever a target, other than we may have looked at him like we probably have dozens of players?
I respect what you post but you're being a bit naive if you think that players are not being touted by their agents to the last moment. If Leeds want a player they won't want him because we do, they will just want him, they don't use Trinity as a barometer. They will make an offer and so will we and the best man wins.
Truth is it's all speculation and press talk.
Two mega rumours were scotched last night alone. There were plenty of Gale is a done deal cobblers on here for months, doh, ditto Lawrence doh doh. It was always pure guesswork and gossip, of course they will pretend that it was a done deal under Poching, but Applegarth said no, yeah right. Ditto the I told you about Proctor poster, good bit of speculation, nothing more.
People think we have been negotiating with Elijah Taylor for month if you believe whats on here or social media. We may have been, but just as likely it's been the case that he was OOC and people put 2 and 2 together and in truth we've never even spoken to him. Yet somehow it's perceived as either a done deal or the one that got away.
It's fun, I've no issue, but it's not real until it happens.'"
To be fair the Taylor one came from Poching in an interview where he talked about the press speculation and far from denied it. Usually when a coach mentions a specific player the club are down the track with negotiating with a player, otherwise the question just gets batted away. I'd guess he was very much a Poching target and Mash is less keen and is looking elsewhere. Obviously can't be sure but if he was interested i guess it would be done by now. Maybe Proctor was the alternative, only they will know.
