| Quote Trojan Horse="Trojan Horse"Corey Norman? Really? Just took Toulouse down. Banned for start of next season and only played 11 games with a whopping total of 4 try assists and 40 (yes 40) missed tackles. He’s not what we need imho. I’d rather have Gale but then again neither of them id be excited about. May as well go with Gaskell if we are looking at Norman or Gale and invest elsewhere.
Id rather have Williams back. He is more of a half that could guide a team round and put us in some try scoring positions. These are all short term options though.
Would be great if we could find a player on the up.
Do we have any good halfbacks coming through academy? I wonder if we could pick a promising young half up from somewhere. Didn’t that Abrahams who was part of the successful 2021 academy go to Australia to develop his game?
I’m just speculating for fun to kill the boredom but I’m sure we must be talking to a wide range of players young and old.'"
Not the force of old but over 200 NRL games so could worth a punt at right price for short term. Only my opinion.
Obviously would rather invest in an up and coming player for the long term if there’s one out there?
Didn’t catch much of the academy last year but I suppose benefit of having Mash as coach he’ll know if there is someone coming through in the halves.

| Quote imwakefieldtillidie="imwakefieldtillidie"Cogger at Huddersfield might be worth a chance. Similar to Miller in that he's got a bit of NRL experience and had a couple of underwhelming years in SL, but there'd be no relocation costs and we might even get some of his wages paid.'"
Been unlucky with injuries whilst over here but was well thought of when he was at Newcastle and big move to the Bulldogs. Only 25 as well. Decent shout!

Suppose he’s another that can’t get into the Hudds team. You could probably say he’s not had a good start to his SL career. I’m sure there’s better out there than the likes of Norman/Gale/Cogger.
Guess we will see soon enough.

If Norman and Cogger were still in Australia I’m sure the average fan would be salivating at the thought of them signing for trinity… but… like Miller before then they came across and haven’t made the best of their chances at their first SL club…
So I would say that they are about on a par with the players we will be seriously looking at … and better than they have shown in the SL so far.. these and others like Wakeham and Harris-Tevita…. Would.. I think… be decent signings..
A couple of fringe first team middle forwards to contemplate would be Sorenson at Penrith and Williams at Cronulla…both similar to Whitbread in style.

Scott Sorenson has been quality for Penrith, very surprised if they let him go.

That's the point.
We have faithfully paid our rent/mortgage, not spent that money on players.
Salford have dug themselves hole they may not be able to get out of.
The rent goes up next year, which they still won't pay, and Salford Council won't keep paying their shortfall.
I prefer our model of paying the bills, even if it means we struggle with the squad.

You're correct, however the fact that Trinity have contributed to the redevelopment costs suggests that money was saved to cover the new pitch, new flood lights and new roof on the Coach House house/Rollen Shack etc.
I have read Salford haven't paid the rent in the past and have received some decent handouts from the local council over the past few years. I don't know if they still are in a similar situation but it does show if you try and do things right and bumble along towards the bottom your seen as a falling club yet if you focus entirely on the first team but have a decent season then you'll seen as a valued club. Perception is everything in the modern world it seems.
For balance, they have had a great end to the season and I was wanting to see them in the final. I have enjoyed watching them and felt they were done over in the semi-final.

Their CEO revealed (fan's forum event), that the club have NEVER paid their full monthly rent. The shortfall of over £300k per annum is paid by the tax payers of Salford.
Imagine if we had an extra £300k to spend on our squad!
(But that we didn't do it by not paying our mortgage).

The tax payers of Wakefield gave us £2 million pounds towards our new ground and I believe but on this I am not sure provided the money via a delayed loan to secure the ground.

No, WMDC gave all the pro clubs in the district £2m to put towards sustainable legacy ventures and activities.
That's entirely different the SRD, defaulting on their rent and the council having to pay the shortfall, as a result of the finance package.
Salford council are liable for all SRD stadium commitments - if SRD don't pay, the council have to.
SRD COULD pay their full rent if they wanted. They choose to default on it and spend money on players instead.
