Why do people like you and this time I am having a bit of a go at you, seem to think they can spot what the BOD can’t. Why do some fans think that highly intelligent people who unlike the rest of us know every detail of the club somehow don’t know the true situation way better than any of us. Sorry but it’s a bit arrogant don’t you think?
As a fan I think that within reason you can say what you want about the team, players, coaches and tactics because you can see them, it’s an opinion based on how you see it.
But you and me and the cohort of in the knows on here have no real idea of the clubs plans for the season so why make wild assumptions based on nothing.
FYI the only clue given was by JM in his interview earlier in the week. Five major signings to come, whilst pointing out that a further three had already arrived at the end of last season in the form of Butler, Bowden and NRL back Taufua but of course that will be conveniently forgotten by fans.
Of the further five signings three have the potential to be overseas players. That to me is a huge potential to replace what we have lost.
Finally and something that these days seems to be totally ignored by supporters is promoted players. If we re-sign Shaw for example that is a signing! Shaw is a sort after player I can assure you and a number of clubs have an interest. For us to keep him will require a fair chunk of our player budget. I’ll put it in perspective, we are not talking minimum wage here, from what I hear a player like Shaw can command 30-40k, not peanuts. You cannot promote good youngsters on the cheap, Shaw will cost and if Eseh is half the player I think he is the money will be astronomical.
Our BOD are imo shrewd men. Keep it tight for now and splash the cash when it really matters. You want to build a team it’s the Eseh and Shaws you do it with and when they come good you want to be able to compete, always our biggest failure in the past.
We have to think long term. For now we consolidate and improve gradually. It’s not exciting but despite what people think big name signings don’t attract fans. Positive momentum does and that is what I believe we will get in the next few years both on and off the field.
