With a few games to go, we were in real trouble. The coach had a contract that was about to end. Wouldn't the club see the writing on the wall and start looking around for someone? Was it offered before the upturn? We'd have all agreed it was the right thing to do before the upturn. Did Willie know and that released some of the pressure and it was reflected in performances?
The issue is timing, really. It'll either turn out to be a decision made too early that backfires or it will turn out okay. A bit like Willie's appointment. Early July, it was disastrous. Late August, it was okay.
It will all unfold and time will tell.
