| Think signing Gale would be a big mistake personally...has been a good player but best years definitely behind him and just don't see him being the type of character that would fit in at Wakey...
We're looking likely to have three if not more quota spots free and for me I'd hunt high and low and put the majority of available budget into a quality 6 and 9 from overseas....as previously mentioned...a player like Brodie Croft can make such a difference....also look back to Salford making a grand final with Hastings and Lusick...two quality players in the pivots...
Huddersfield last season finished on the same points as us but went out and spent wisely under Watson to go from a struggling season to play off contenders....I know we haven't got their kind of money to throw around but again...two quality pivots signed there in Levi and Fages make such a difference...

| Quote Trojan Horse="Trojan Horse"I don’t think Gaskell was ever a play maker. Think he’s always been more comfortable on the edges. I’m fine with Gaskell continuing at centre and pushing for a place there. We have Hall, Lyne, Gaskell which is okay as a starting point. Maybe another rotation centre would be good (I’d consider re-signing Croft and promoting that young centre from academy).
Can I ask where your confirmation that Gale is coming to trinity has come from? There was a brief rumour a month or more ago. It nothing since. It would of course not be a good option but your worried about something unconfirmed and that may not happen.
Obviously if Miller does go (I’d be okay with him staying another year) we need to make a quality addition to the halfbacks and would likely have to look for our own Brodie Croft from Australia.'"
Sorry you don’t think that Gaskell, who has spent the majority of his career as a stand off, has ever been a playmaker? Not sure about that one. He probably looks better now as centre as he get older but he certainly has been a string-puller for most of his career.

| I think this Batch love in is a little over the top. He's had a decent second half of the season and my preference would have been to keep him, but we've lost better in the past and will do in the future. Johnstone and Miller are much bigger losses. Good luck to him at Rovers, he seems a genuinely nice lad and deserves a good reception when he returns.

Remember not so long ago miller was the architect of all things bad with our lack attacking prowess ,which was practically non existent even when we had plenty of plays on the oppositions line ,it usually ended in failure to post points ,and was pilloried by all and sunder ,and resulted in us being the lowest try scorers in the league. Move on to later in the season and he’s playing some decent rugby especially the last 4/5 games (,did that coincide with his imminent castleford contract ) , I don’t know , but something has definitely sparked him into life . So for me if he goes he goes , I simply don’t see a problem replacing him with a player of his quality or hopefully even better consistency and quality .Have we really missed Johnstone. He hasn’t featured very much for us over the last few seasons and we’ve got used to him not being in the squad almost to a point where he might had well have gone to another club and left .As seen on Friday we have a ready made replacement and fingers crossed we can keep him for a fair few years and will imo be equally prolific if this latter part of the season is anything to go by .

Miller gets some unfair stick. We were told he needed an organising half next to him that would allow him to play his natural game, but then we go out and sign Lino who is anything but. Lino has one good game in 6 but Miller is the one fans single out for hammer.

| Quote Scarlet Pimpernell="Scarlet Pimpernell"The subject of Gale was due to a post by Vastman who believed he looked good on Friday and he thought still had two years left in him
Gale coming to Wakefield was first mentioned near the end of last season .Think the way W Poaching as give youth it's head over the last few games shows hopefully that that money is going to be better spent on players who are not on the down ward slope of there career.Think Mr Carter said at the fans forum Cas had offerd Miller more money and the board had said prove your worth it and we will match it.So let's wait and see on that

We all have our opinions of Miller.
He always tries but the great form of the past few games hasn’t been evident all season! A pity because when he turns it on he is class.
Anyway sad to see Batch go but I’d be more concerned if we lost Aydin!

I see the exact opposite tbh.
Class never goes and class is what we lack in the creative department. Also his career is totally contrary to what you suggest. His best years were at Cas and London, smaller clubs, it's big clubs he's done less well at.
You have to have a mix, and you need a few players who have done it all. We are a team who struggle to make good 5th tackle choices and it costs us, Gale does that very well. His kicking game alone would instantly improve our end of set options.
Just so long as we don't have to pay for his new hair I'll be just fine with this if it happens.

There are few posters I'd dismiss out of hand, but you are one. I don't recall you ever being right, but hey there is always a first time. You raised that million pounds yet?

| Quote Sacred Cow="Sacred Cow"The belief is Aydin is going to Leeds. Given O’Connor’s son plays for them he quite possible has some info from there.
As for Gale i don’t know who you were watching last night but the one i was seeing was way off the pace, like he has been all season. A couple of badly dropped grubbers by us does not make a good performance for me. It would be more akin to the Brough signing.'"
Oh so his pack wasn't or the rest of his team, come on.
I'm not suggesting Gale is ideal or the player he was but we have a good history with end of career players offering us good service and as they say, class is permanent so why dismiss him. How many time are we going to fall for this, slag a player off based on his previous club form only to be lording him later. Westerman was the last don't tough with a barge pole player, and Finn should never be near SL we were told.
So what, regarding O'Conners son, why would he know?

Personally never faulted miller for his commitment in his defensive work but it was the attacking side of his game that required improvement ,especially on the oppositions line , where Ashurst was the usual recipient of the mandatory hospital pass when all else failed , and last play options were at times abysmal . Obviously Lino must share some of the blame also ,but he gets his nose in front in the halfback stakes due to his kicking prowess
