As a player he’s made some meaningful contributions over the years but must go down as one of the worst captains for me.

Although we don’t know the dynamics, listening to many of this current squad in the press/on podcasts had built a pretty clear picture. The vibe from within the group that we lost a real leader in the dressing room when Kirmond moved on. Liam Kay also touched on some members of the current squad not knowing what the Cas fixture means to the club and the fans. Pretty damning.

It was a missed opportunity with Miller’s Covid disciplinary breaches to not make the change and give this group a shake up then.

I’d like to see the captaincy moved on with a mind on next season - should we manage to get out of this mess and start a rebuild. Let Miller concentrate on his rugby and battle it out with Lino, Walker & Gaskell for the halves spots without that burden till the end of the season.

Least dave was trying yes he had a brain fart but had he been on pitch for first 10 of the secind half we would of still lost and if you think any different then your clueless 1 body doesnt and shouldnt make that much a difference but the other 12 just gave up rather than fight

I'm not going to knock Fifita for one mistake yesterday - which may or may not have made a difference to the score, although he would have had to make one hell of a contribution to prevent what happened, had he stayed on the field!
Generally he's been a strong contributor during his time at Trinity. How many games has he helped us win?
The bloke tries, which is more than can be said for a lot of them.
Back to subject, there must be someone in the team more vocal and with more vitality than Miller! I'd seek that person out and relieve Miller of the Captaincy now, because we need that leader on the field NOW not next season!

I have to say, a big thing we are missing and have missed since JD is a captain.

Miller puts a lot of effort in but he isn't the one to inspire others around him imho.

Miller’s game has probably suffered because of the extra responsibility that comes with Captaincy.

Given the state we are in there shud be plenty of players shouting and encouraging each other !! Pitts, Ashurst , Fifita…Arona to name but a few …all seasoned professionals !! Watching Wigan/Saints Cas etc it’s hard sometime to spot who is captain because there are multiple players giving input throughout the game both in encouragement or ranting !!

Dont think I can recall Kirmond or Demetriou shouting v much when things weren’t going well … they both led by example on the field but no ranting at players behind the posts after conceding etc .

That’s probably because they didn’t have to but by god it’s needed now!

JD definitely did. There are lots of photos and clips of him barking orders.
All the players from that era comment on him as a leader on their podcast.
